St f WHEN, SUDDENLY, THE BREEZES THAT SHOULD BE INVITING AS WELL AS COOL waft in the open' window hearing horrible smells. Smells of garbage burning, smells of not dried enough trash smoldergrass clippings and other smells once from blue waters ot and the sparkling ing the lake that bear unmistakable sewage odors. It seems a shame that human beings so ruin the pure fresh air and all of it could be prevented. Now the communities are striving to find a solution to the garbage roblem. and we can understand that it is taking time. It has been proposed that a modern sewer system with a treatment plant could take care of the sewer problem and we think the people with foresight will be much in favor of such a proposition. .... non-burnab- le J Layton City officials are to be congratulated on the enforcement of their ordinance requiring trash be burned only in containers and only front the hours of (I a.m. to 10 a.m., leaving the evenings odor free. Kaystille City could go a long way towards enforcing their like ordinance. Perhaps its citizenry isnt aware of the nuisance they cause by late afternoon and evening burning maybe a reminder is all they need. Citizens, too, with any pride in their community should not burn their trash street side. Too often, property owners hate their ground all beautifully landscaped find planted so they take their trash off their property onto the street, probably next door to their neighbor's to burn. This abominable practice should be stopped too. A gentle reminder, a new garbage system; a sewer system with treatment plant and thoughtful residents can make the evening's smell to be en toyed!
