Generally, families should have incomes of $1,500 per month or less to qualify for help from Sanpete Sub for Santa. However, the Sub for Santa committee will consider special circumstances, such as large families with modest incomes or families with unusual medical bills. To apply for assistance, obtain an application form from one of the drop sites, fill it out and return it. Applications must be signed by the head of household of the re st low-inco- cants will be served. The committee will screen and prioritize applications, helping the most needy applicants first; the groups goal is to serve as many as possible. The number who can be served all comes down to the generosity of Sanpete County - to you, your family, your church group and your civic club. The key to the programs success, says Boge, is expanding the pool of volunteers. You can help in four ways: Thanksgiving t Im so glad to see that Thanksgiving is becoming more holiday. accepted as a two-daIts always seemed silly to me to have a Thursday hoh- y - around the corner from one another. There is a reason that Thanksgiving is known as the heaviest travel period of the entire year. (Though I do know it is true here in Sanpete, there are a number of clans who do live in close proximity.) There are those among us who get all fidgety and uptight at the mention of any holiday. I was reminded by a little newspaper piece the other day that the first Thanksgiving with the pilgrims lasted three days. The pilgrims didnt come up with the idea of the feast. The Indians had been feasting at harvest time before the white folks arrived in 1620. Tne two newly met cultures athered and the feast was a time of thanks and new riendship. This week is a great time to pause and remember our blessings. We live in a terrific time and in a terrific place. We have much to be grateful for. As poor as we think we have it here in Sanpete, there are so many other places in the world where life is incomprehensibly worse than we can imagine. Life is good is so many ways here. And, to top it all off, this is the holiday where Sanpete shines with our turkey industry. Thank goodness tuna casserole is not Americas traditional feast meal. Enjoy your holiday....
