Pleasant Nuisance ordinance Beautification Committee chairperson Eldon Barnes and the council agreed to adopt a process to enforce the city's nuisance ordinance. That process, patterned after Mt. Pleasant City's plan, gives citizens 15 days to clean up nuisance ordinance violations, or be subject to fines levied by the city. Barnes suggests taking pictures to document violations, saying he believes it will get folks to respond John quicker. Mayor Thomas agreed, and says the city will buy a camera if necessary. Thomas also agreed with Barnes that two signatures should be on the citations, those of Barnes and council member Boyd Mick-e- l, to avoid any perception that the Beautification Committee is biased toward any individual Thomas added he gets a good response from most citizens regarding the Beautifiber of the Hometown cation Committee's efforts. Audit The council agreed to allow Greg Ogden CPA Firm to do the city audit for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2004. The same firm did last year's audit and the council voiced their approval of Ogden's work. Power rate The one cent per kilowatt power rate reduction goes into effect immediately, due to a unanimous vote by the council. During inter mission, HMRA President Gary Mosser, presented Chad's wife, Amy Thomson, with a jacket signifying Thomson's longtime association with the group. Pedestrian killed in Mt. Pleasant Mt. Pleasan- t- A Mt. Pleasant woman, killed was Madge Snedger, during a pedestrian auto accident about 1:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 9 at about 267 South 700 East. The victim was believed to be walking northbound near the middle of the street on 700 East when Miles Vernon Draper, an Mt. Pleasant man, also traveling northbound, struck her on the back side, knocking her down and running over her. According to Mt. Pleasant Police Chief Jim Wilberg, Draper then turned his vehicle around and traveled southbound to his residence. The vehicle was impounded as evidence and Draper was booked into the Sanpete County Jail for leaving the scene of an accident with injuries or death Chief Wilberg stated that the accident is still under investigation ana further charges could be filed through the Sanpete County District Attorneys office. ld v. |
