Show Local events slated to celebrate Pioneer Day Myrth Miner chosen grand marshal of Fairview s activities FAIRVIE- W- Myrth Miner, lifetime Fairview resident, will be the grand marshal at the citys Pioneer Days parade on July 24. He married Lorraine Vance and Pioneer Days horseshoe tourney slated FAIRVIE- they have three children: Curtis Miner, Salt Lake City; Sharene Hansen, West Jordan; and Barry Miner, Fairview; and five grandchildren. He was an elementary school teacher in three different school districts. He was a teaching principal in Fairview for 24 years. Activities for Pioneer Days are: A free horseshoe tournament will be held during Pioneer Days at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 26, at the Lions Park located east of City Hall near the tennis courts. The Lions Park swings were cut, and tables and stage were vandalized. The baseball parks had several sprinkler heads destroyed. The citys American flags displayed on State Street were stolen, but were later recovered at the Fair-vie- w Cemetery. They were tied to the flag pole. All three systems were taken from pick-u- p trucks. There have also been a rash of auto thefts and auto burglaries within the county lately. Larsen said that residents need to report any auto tampering or suspicious actions immediately to the Sanpete County Sheriffs Department. He also stated that the days of being able to leave keys in the ignition and front doors unlocked are over. They have 13 grandchildren and 25 They still live in their own home, grow a small garden, enjoy many hobbies, and are active in the LDS Church and senior citizens. SPRING CIT- Y- With the theme, "The Spirit of Pioneering, Under the Horseshoe, " the Spring City Parade Committee is calling for entries for the annual Pioneer Day Celebration to be held 10 a.m., Thursday, July 24. The parade is under the direction of Mayor Robert and Nedra Allred. Entries will be judged on theme representation, originality and Prizes will be participation. awarded for first, second and third places. The parade route has been changed this year. It will begin lining up on the east side of Main Street on 400 South where the roadway will be numbered and assignments made. The vandals also threw rocks down the well causing the wells output to drop from 292 gallons per minute to about 206 gallons per minute The well had been capped to benefit Birch Creek Irrigations share holders and to protect Skyline Mountain Resorts land from erosion.
