Show Page Eight - The Pyramid - April 16, 1997 Sanpete Valley Hospital to hold health fair on Saturday Lady Badgers win over Dixie, lose to Ricks College in softball by Ken Beazer EPHRAI- M- Playing with the heart of a champion, the Lady Badgers managed a weekend split at home despite fielding a roster marred by injuries. A sweep of Dixie on Friday, followed by a couple of losses to SWAC leader, Ricks College on Saturday, leaves the Lady Badgers with a 5 conference record as they prepare to host their final home games this weekend. After going 0-- 3 the previous week, conference foes began to doubt the Lady Badgers ability to rebound from the injuries and misfortunes that have plagued Coach Murrays squad all year; however, it didnt take long for Snow to answer their doubt with a solid thumping of Dixie in game one, 9-The message sent by the Lady Badgers was not subtle, it rang loud and clear. Key sophomore leadership and clutch plays by a cadre of freshmen, combined to 2-- 4. once again establish Snow College as a formidable challenge to every SWAC opponent. Mandy Morrison picked up the victory on the mound in game one for Snow, going the distance and allowing only five hits, while the Lady Badgers pounded out 12 hits of their own. Katie Flower, Laci Wall and Teri Foster each collected two hits. Foster came away with RBI honors, driving in three runs with a single and triple. In game two, the Lady Badgers jumped out early and held off a late Dixie charge to capture a 3 victory. Carley Garner went the distance on the mound for the victory, allowing only one earned run. Gamer also helped herself out offensively, driving in two runs on a pair of hits. Wall and Mylei Zachman also had multiple hit games with two a piece.
