However, before Snow College contends with the Rebels, they must first face the frustration of letting another one get away to UVSC. Three of the last four times these two schools have met, the game has been decided on a shot; all outcomes going in the Wolverines favor. Last Fridays game was no exception. During the games first five minutes, each team exchanged turnovers, elbows and a few baskets, as neither team could find their sync, a common occurrence in games with high stakes. In fact, had it not been for Brandon Fries scoring the Badgers first 12 points, the game could have gotten out of hand early. It wasnt until mid-wa- y through the second half that the Badgers appeared to take control, when Pat McGrath leaped over UVSCs 6 10" center, Darius Beard, for a thundering dunk, igniting a Snow run that eventualBadgly ended in an eleven-poier lead. er er 9, heart-breakin- 0. 9. fi-- With the disappointment of the UVSC loss still palatable in the air, Snow took the court against SLCC the following night and never really found their grove, falling behind by as many as 13 points in the first half, before eventually fighting back to trail by only two at the half. last-seco- The first 20 people to register will be refunded registration fees and as much of their motel pense as there is money allocated for the program. Moral victories are never manifested in conference standeffort disings, but the played by the Lady Badgers over the weekend sent a clear message of warning to the rest of the SWAC: We can play with, and beat, any team in this conference. If wins were solely related to effort and heart, the Lady Badgers record would be perfect. d Obviously by both UVSC and SLCC, Coach Whites gritty cast of "never-say-diBadgers, left both opponents just glad to get out of Ephraim with a win. all-o- ut With the large home crowd roaring their approval, it appeared as if the recent UVSC jinx was well on its way to suffering what would have been a death. The Badger lead proved to be precarious at best. The crowds cheers turned into nervous banter as the Wolverines closed the gap and eventually took the ball with 6:32 left in the game; yet, with 1:08 left, the Badgers fought back to grab a 77-7- 5 lead and out-size- e" Sanpete Valley Hospital has the following positions available: Two PRN positions are available with no guarantee of hours. With both teams employpressure throughout ing the majority of the game, you knew fatigue would eventually be the deciding factor. The Lady Wolverines went to their bench early, and often, showing that they not only had size, but depth too. The maneuver paid off for UVSC. With about 10 minutes left in the game, the shots that had been falling for the Lady Badgers, suddenly started to bounce off the front of the rim, and their passes lacked zip, leading to several the turnovers. Furthermore, crucial defense pressure to Snows success, suddenly was AWOL. Unable to make the extra step defensively, the Lady Badgers couldnt effectively trap UVSC in the backcourt, which led to several easy baskets for the Lady Wolverines. Snow watched a two-poideficit mushroom into a gulf in a matter of min1 utes, eventually leading to a defeat. Chary Young led the Lady Badgers in scoring with 10 points. Kelly Olsen and Alycia Adams followed with nine and eight points respectively. The Lady Badgers did manage to build an lead at one juncture of eight-poithe game, but the Lady Bruins showed why they are one of the teams expected to battle for the conference crown, and fought back to tie the score to send it into the first overtime. With the crowd starting to arrive for the mens game, the battle raged on between the women. This was a battle that could not be settled in just one overtime, so an additional five minutes was added to. the clock to. i accommodate a double overtime. In the end, the Lady Badgers came up short in the second thus ending a overtime, 53-5four-gam- e stretch against the top four teams in the SWAC.
