Show September 11, 1996 - The Pyramid - Page Five Star Party to be held on Skyline EPHRAI- A "Star Party" will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 26, at the intersection of Skyline Drive and Ephraim Canyon Road by Great Basin Environmental Education Center (GBEEC). "Star Party" is a chance for everyone to enjoy the great outdoors and take a good look at what is going on in the skies. Dave Lanier and his gang are sponsoring this free event as part of a community service agenda. Participants should bring blankets, jackets and lawn chairs. Upon arrival, telescopes, donuts and drinks will be available while star gazing. This date was especially selected for what will be visible that night, a partial eclipse of the moon, a comet and other planets. The GBEEC sponsors a community event each month during the summer as part of their agreement to run the center. People would think that 13 returning starters off a 9-- 2 team would have earned the Badgers some respect. After all, a bowl victory and a number seven ranking by the NJCAA usually grabs attention. However, polls and conference rankings left the Badgers wondering what they have to do to convince WSFL foes not to invite them to their homecoming parties. The victory over the talented Gauchos sends a clear message to the league: The Badgers are for real, again. At first, it appeared as if Snow College was going to prove the pollsters right as they turned the ball over deep in their own territory on the games opening kick-of- f. If that wasnt enough, the Badgers quickly trumped that blunder by setting up Glendales first score by throwing an interception on their first offensive play from scrimmage. Trailing quarterback, Riley Jensen guided the Badgers down field, setting up the first of three Ryan Bloxham field goals to cut the lead to 3 before the first quarter ended. The Badgers took the lead early in the second quarter on freshman Josh Whites d touchdown run. The lead was short-live- d as Glendale answered the call less three minutes later with a seven-yar- d scoring strike. The second of Bloxham s field goal boots 2 narrowed the gap to and after the Badger defense forced Glendale to punt the ball with just over a minute left before the half. MORONI: condition from the furnace to the roof and other parts rd and humidity started to get to the Badger defense as Glendale put together an impressive drive for the score. With the Badger offense being held at bay for the greater part of the second half and the Badger defense visibly fatigued, it appeared as if Glendale was finally going to get their first victory against Snow College in seven years. Enter Blain Woodland, a six foot, 180 lb freshman speedster from Woodland Michigan. scooped up on the Gaucho kickoff and broke straight up the field kick-of- f for a return. The touchdown ignited a previously moribund Badger sideline and shot a sense of doom over the Glendale faithful. After stopping Glendales offense from advancing on their next possession, the Badger defense turned the ball over to the g offense for the drive. And when Bloxham booted his field goal through the uprights, the Badgers had once again prevailed against a higher ranked team in the early part of the season.
