The Family Practice Division at the University of Utah School of Medicine sponsors this program to familiarize students with the way medicine is practiced outside of the Medical Center setting. It is also to encourage more students to consider preparing themselves for community practice as specialists in family medicine, or other primary care specialties. PLEASANT Deputy Sheriff Bruce Tiu.vell will be a guest speaker at a public meeting sponsored by Utah Citizens Law Enforcement Oversight Committee (LEO) to be held in the Mt. Pleasant City Library basement on Thursday, Sept. 21, at 7 p.m. Deputy Tidwell will inform meeting attenders of the organization of law enforcement agencies within Sanpete County as well as jurisdiction and oaths of office. LEO was formed by the pressing need for improved communication and working relationships between Sanpete law enforcement officers and the general public. It is the goal of this organization to advocate just, fair and constitutional law enforcement actions and acknowledge, the obligation of every citizen to hold responsibility for safety and security of the county. The Utah State BLM Director Bill Lamb, states, "The council will help us keep in touch with local communities in our resource decision making. PLEASANT Employee, Excellence Award winners were decided at the Aug. 15 meeting of the North Sanpete School District board meeting Recipients are: Sylvia Butterfield, high school special education teacher; Kathy Olsen, director of the district and Jeff Jarman and the High School Improvement Council. Barbara Gordon, city reporter; Ron Pipher, recreation department chairman and Reed Rawlings, councilman, vere in attendance when the board decided to approve and sign the agreement with Moroni City for the Moroni Softball Complex at the district middle school. The agreement is that the school district will provide the ground and Moroni City will be in charge of installation and upkeep. There is a 10 year review date for the complex. Barbara Gordon also requested permission for the Centennial Wagon Trail jtliat will be passing through Moroni in June 1996 to use the showers and other facilities at the middle school. President Hall has asked that a committee be organized to study one-ye- ar the need of a new district office; building. Nine individuals will be ; asked to serve on the committee. :: A report from Karen Kowalski : notified the high school and board that classes at Snow Acad- - -emy will be expanded to include ; a building trades class. There will ; be about nine slots available for ' this class. The district had students completing 922 hours of college hours last year through the use of ; the Ednet program. This was a; value of $54,398 to the students : who participated. , MP beautification winners MT. PLEASAN- T- Mayor Chesley Christensen announced award recipients for the Mt. Pleasant Beautification Program. In making the announcement, the mayor expressed his appreciation for . the community effort in keeping the city clean. "I greatly appreciate everyones work," he said. "When I travel to various meetings throughout the state, people comment on how nice our city looks." Christensen said' that awards will be given on a regular basis to residents who make a significant effort toward beautification. He called attention to the work of Wayne and Lorita Beck, Jill and Wade Lynch, and Bob and on-goi- ng Robyn Norman.
