Show Page Four - The Pyramid - May 10, 1995 Templars retain Region 12 title, but retire undeafeated status battle with Bulldogs losing Sports 5-- 12 Lady Badgers win Region 18 title EPHRAIM-- - The Lady Badgers proved that the regular season wasnt a fluke as they beat Dixie College and Utah Valley State College for their third straight Region 18 championship. Snow College came into the tournament with a 16-- 2 record against their regional competition and quickly put away the Dixie Rebels 10-- 0 in five innings. Cher Bingham pitched the shutout win for the Lady Badgers as everyone got into the action from the plate. After the win the Lady Badgshooters then watched a 1 out between Utah Valley and Colorado Northwestern to see who would be their next victim. Manti-Gunniso- 22-ga- Shannon Daniels, Robyn Peterson and Terrie Hernandez were named honorable mention. With the win Snow College will host the number one team in the nation. Central Arizona, who has over 40 wins and no losses. The two teams will play Friday afternoon at p.m. and again on Saturday at 11 a.m. The team that wins the best of three will represent the district at the national tournament in Hutchinson, lop-side- 5-- , 1 KS. Utah Valley had problems of their own and Colorado Northwestern scored five in the bottom of the first. CNCC then made a game of it again when they scored six runs in the sixth inning to pull to within one run. There were a lot of concerns about the weather going into the tournament so coaches and directors decided to change from the normal double elimination format to a single elimination in order to finish in one day. In the championship game the Lady Wolverines started the game with a solo homerun that sparked Snow College to a five-ru- n first inning of their own. Kelly Jensen kept Utah Valley off pace with a variety of pitches. The Badgers had several stellar plays in the field including an unassisted double play from Kim Koch. The Badgers placed five players on the team including Bingham, Jensen, Koch, Cory Sampson and Katie Christensen who was also named the MVP.
