PLEASANT An auto wrecking yard will not be located on Highway 89 contrary to information placed in a legal notice last week by attorney Ross Black-haThe notice, for a June 7 zoning request by Jim and (Agricultural) to C- -l (Commercial) so they can legally operate their auto repair and dismantling business. Jim obtained a business license from the county in 1987 to operate Jims Auto and obtained the countys written permission to apply to the state for a motor vehicle dismantlers license in May 1990. At that time the county commission granted a permit to build a 25x30 shop on the property as well as a conditional use permit, and the business became Jims Auto Repair and Wrecking. Last September the county sent the Wilkinsons notice to close the business in December for operating it in the wrong A-- reLa-Rai- Wilkinson, stated that the property was "along Highway 89." In fact, the property is located just north of Mt. Pleasant at 786 North 500 West, approximately mile west of Highway 89 which the Wilkinsons verified last week. Sanpete County Clerk Kristine Christiansen searched the county record and confirmed that the property description was correct but that it isnt along Highway; rather, its some distance away. The Wilkinsons are requesting that the property they purchased in 1986 be rezoned from one-ha- lf requested the zoning change. The zoning commission set criteria the Wilkinsons would have to follow which included erection of an eight-fofence around the dismantling yard and guidelines for oil disposal, which were already being addressed. A public hearing would have to be held, then the zoning commission would make their recommendations to the county commission.
