Softball or other games will be available today with a watermelon bust at 7 p.m. at the Ball Park. Thursday begins with the horse parade down Main Street. Trophies will be given. The first night of, the Western States Championship Rodeo begins at 8 p.m. at the Rodeo Arena. Prior to the rodeo Tom Stanley will perform. Friday, July 23, begins with the mini triathlon at Skyline Resort. Events include swimming, biking and running. will be given for all enAll tries. ages may participate. At 10 a.m. the annual horseshoe tournament will be held at the Lions Park Horseshoe Pit. And at 2 p.m. the mutton and sour dough dinner will be served at the Lions Park. A program featuring Kerry Summers, a ventriloquist, magi rts , At noon, the carnival and the EMTs popular barbecue sandwiches will be offered at the Lions Park. Rocky Mountain Thunder, entertainment for all ages will begin at 1:30 p.m. The annual ATV pulls will begin at 3 p.m. at the Rodeo Arena. Barrel racing will be held for those who can round the barrels. The Fairview Fire Department will be sponsoring the Chuck Wagon breakfast at 7 a.m. The flag raising will be held at 7:30 a.m. with the Scouts presenting the flag. The Fairview royalty will sing the National Anthem. Talent such as singing, dancing, etc., will be presented during the DUP program which begins at 9 a.m. The childrens parade starts at 10:30 a.m. Prizes will be given to childrens entries. The big parade begins at 11 a.m. Miss Fairview, Amy Giles, and her court, Camie Church and Melanie Anderson, will begin the parade. V,. ! Register for ATV training SPRING CITY Registration underway for those who may have missed the previous ATV safety certification program. The new class will be scheduled as soon as ten children are enrolled. Registration forms may be obtained from Rafter Check, the post office and city hall. is 0k W ft - "Rocky Mountain Thunder" will entertain Pioneer Day celebrants Saturday, July 24, at 1:30 p.m. in the Lions Park. "Thunder" specializes in country and rocknroll music with a beat. Dan Whitley, lead vocalist, has played banjo and sung folk songs since childhood. He has performed with down-hom- VW. I , . u&f I' e, comic element to the act and keeps audiences entertained between numbers. Dean Kaelin sings and plays the keyboard, guitar, banjo and drums. He is also the groups arranger, producer and music writer. Tennis tournament featured at Spring City celebration ' SPRING CIT- Y- The annual Pioneer Day Celebration will begin Friday evening July 23 with a tennis tournament held at the Jerry Golding Tennis Court south A of town. h coed softball tournament will begin 6 p.m. at the ball park and a talent contest will be held 7:30 p.m. at the church park. The public is welcome to participate. The group consists of Jacob, 13; The Lettermen and done TV commercials with Tom T. Hall. Bass Jeff Gregersons wit adds a Ben, 16; twins Aaron and Matthew, 10; and seated, Sara, 17, and Katie, 7. The Brewsters enjoy performing Celtic (British Isles), Blue-graand folk music. ss Winners will be chosen in three separate categories with the first place winner receiving $25 in cash and the second place winner receiving $10. Each contestant will receive a silver dollar. Saturday, the events will kick off with an early morning wake-u- p by the Spring City Fire De partment at 6:30, followed by the traditional firemans breakfast at the fire station from 7 to 9:30. The annual Fun Run, with a walking division included, will also be held at 7 a.m. Each participant will receive a free Those interested should sign up and pay their fee at the post office at 7 a.m. The parade begins at 10 a.m. and all entries should line up at the intersection of 300 South and Main. This will be followed by a carnival at the church park sponsored by the P.T.A. A dunking booth and greased pole will be featured and snow cones will be sold by the North Sanpete Ambulance Assoc. Barbecued turkey and roast beef, homemade root beer, salad, pie and cake will be on the menu for the lunch at the church park from Noon to 1 p.m. Live enter 5-- K rt. V tainment will be provided during the barbecue by Elaine and Scott Brewster and their six children frpm Provo. Many county residents will remember Elaine, who did a concert at the Spring City LDS Chapel the first part of May of this year which, was sponsored by the Sanpete Arts Council. The softball and tennis tournafinals will continue on Saturday; Evening events at the ball park will include contests in golf putting and baseball hitting, and will conclude with ping pong balls dropped from the sky with one lucky winner walking away with a new Sony CDAMFM stereo.
