PLEASANT The May 14 meeting of ihe North Sanpcle Board of Education will be held in the Media Center of North Sanpete High School at 7 p.m., according to a district spokesperson. District officials will hear recommendations from a established lo examine patron concerns that classroom teachers are missing school to improve teaching skills. The ad hoc committee that includes twocommunily repre & cc sentatives from each of the districts live precincts and five teachers was formed following the April 9 school board meeting that was attended by about 25 patrons and parents. Patrons were encouraged to express ideas to the committee that would then make recommendations on how the district could provide a balance between staff training and excessive teacher absences. These officers arc given the responsibility to provide a condition of confinement and control whereas incarcerated offenders have the opportunity to function within the system in a manner that will not be harmful to themselves, staff, other offenders or society. The Department of Correc5-- 12, tions accomplishes this goal through incarceration , super vision of probationers and parolees and the use of Community Correctional Centers, which serve as halfway houses to facilitate a more structured integration back into the community. An officer who works within a secure facility is responsible for providing safety and security to tne oi lender as well as the public, meeting offenders health and medical needs, providing meals, educational opportunities, discipline, and assistance programs for. substance abuse and sex offenders; supervising a structured daily activity schedule, and providing information and assistance in accessing rehabilitation programs. Correctional officers also supervise offenders who are not incarcerated, but under the authority of the Department of Corrections through probation, parole, or community correctional centers (halfway houses).
