Although the entire nation is interested in fitness, Sanpete County goes about it in its own way. A few years ago Money magazine featured Dr. Kim Bateman with a lead picture of him riding an exercise bike in the back yard of the It was a happy time on July 24th when Lloyd Terry rode his familiar palomino horse, Hondo, in the Fairview parade, something he has done for 18 years. Last summer Terry was honored as the grand marshal in the Pioneer Days Horse Parade and proudly rode Hondo. We often work sixty hours shifts in the emergency room, and physical activity has attributed a break in the routine as well as the obvious personal physical benefits. Because of practice demands, Dr. Bateman fits his exercise into odd hours. You may see him jogging at 6 a.m. on the road surrounding Ephraim. A light from his basement window often reveals him riding a y ski machine while watching the lOoclocknews. He died sometime last weekend from a bullet wound and was left lying in a deserted field on the west hills. palomino Hondo, a horse belonging to Lloyd Terry, Milbum was another victim of a careless hunter who could not tell the difference between a palomino horse and an elk. No one knows for certain when the incident happened. Perhaps the hunter was illegally spotlighting from the road as Hondo was only yards from Highway 89. Although Terry has had a number of horses over the years, Hondo was one of his favorites. He feels the loss. .Hondo was the horse he always rode in summer parades around the valley. I guess I wont be doing that anymore, he said sadly. This time it was Hondo who got the bullet. Another time it might be a !
