Show L, OCTOBER 14, 1986 The Davis High Dartboard By SONYA Its time for another episode of the Davis Dartboard. Yeah. Homecoming is over, but wasnt it just one big exciting party? The parade this year was the best it has been in a long time. Thanks to all who participated and helped make the parade possible. The football game kept us all on the edge as we watched our football team perform their best ever in defeating Viewmont 22 to 19. Due to weather the Powder Puff game was held Oct. 6 instead of Oct. . The Seniors were the first to score with an awesome run by Lori 1 Spike Juniors Band Festival held at the University of Utah at 5 p.m. The Cross Country team will be at Viewmoct on Oct. 15 at 4 p.m. Also it is the State Golf Tournament. Good luck to the golf team as sometimes I forget to recognize them. I have heard that they are the future Arnie Palmers. Oct. 16 the girls volleyball team will be at Viewmont to play at 4 p.m. Oct. 8 is State Girls Tennis. Good luck to them. On Oct. 8 the varsity football team traveled to Roy and lost 20 to 9. The guys tried their best, but fell unfortunate to a lot of bad luck. Wasnt UEA fun? I hope everyg one had a weekend. I sure did. Too bad it couldnt be longer. Over UEA weekend the choirs Choral performed in the Concert held down at Temple Square in the Tabernacle. Layton Chamber honors students Michael Gedris of .LAYTON Layton High School, Brad Bitner of North Layton Junior High and Emma Dibble of Central Davis Junior High were honored by the Layton Chamber of Commerce as Teenagers of the Month. They received special recognition at the monthly Chamber luncheon held Oct. 2 at the Valley View Golf Course. A senior at Layton High School, Michael Gedris has an impressive list of accomplishments. He is a finalist in the National Career Development Conference for the Distributive Educational Clubs of America (DEC A), a first place winner in the Utah State DECA Conference, General Merchandising, Vice Chairman of the Layton High DECA Executive Board, Reporter for the Layton High Future Busi ness Leaders of America and a member of the chemistry, math and ski clubs. Michael is a commended student in the National Merit Scholarship Test, a finalist in the American High School Mathematics Exam- ination who qualified for the American Invitational Mathematics Examination, a member of the National Honor Society and a member of the a'cappella choir. He attended Boys State in 1986. Michael has participated in school, community and church sports programs. He was a member of the Layton High varsity long distance track team. Brad Bitner is a ninth grade student at North Layton Junior High. He is a member of the school basketball team and President of the science class. Brad has lived in McBRIDE I wasnt sure that this was supposed to happen, but there it was as plain as day before my eyes. Layton is one of the greatest teams in the state, we cant beat them, can we? only seconds away from a miracle win. Yeah! 10-9- many different places including Guadalajara, Mexico. He holds the Star rank in Scouting. His hobbies include sports, reading, camping, and horseback riding. Emma Dibble was selected from Central Davis Junior High. This ninth grader keeps a daily journal. She excells in academic work and other activities. Emma is a talented singer and a member of Central Singers. She is also an accomplished violinist and pianist and a -5 member of Centrals concert orchestra. She has earned several awards for her musical perform- Once again, it's time for Lancer Lines. He was suffering from a very rare Guillian-Barr- e Syndrome, a paralysis of the nerves. He has enjoyed the advantages of a quick, miraculous recovery and we hope to have him back very soon. When the game was over and the earns ran off the field I had a huge ump in my throat and I blew a sigh )f relief. I had just finished watch-n- g my friends of seventeen years sweat, bleed, bite and claw their vay to a very tough victory. But oh vhat sweet victory it was.
