Show THE GRIM REAPER BUSY not tor for a long time has brigham city received such a shock as it did last thursday afternoon cherl the r report e p was s telephoned p ho n ed I 1 in n fr from OM the anjella bent c cement e m wila plant that t M mr r I 1 D hoyt had been ground to pieces in the machinery out there tile the report was all the more incredible from the tact fact that hr hoyt was a skilled machinist with long years of 0 experience to his credit and the last mail iua who would he be likely to get caught there was a rush for the cement plant by many ot of the citizens including james knudson justice ot of the peace and a jury to act in a coroners inquest should it be necessary upon arrival at the plant the mangled remains ot of sir fr hoyt floyt were found betheen beaw een the cog wheels of 0 the endless bucket elevator which lifts the burned klinkers from the cooler to the dry grinders the head neck and arms were not mangled but from the arm pits down nearly to the knees the poor body was ground into a shapeless mass almost and bits of lesh flesh clung to the cruel CORS cogs anti and had fallen into the buckets below making a most grue some sight it required a long time patient labor and finally the use of a knife to get the body released from its position in the machinery a wagon cover being swung under it while hile the work was going on oil to catch the particles ot of flesh that fell as the wheels were being spread apart the remains were tenderly laid in an undertakers basket under the direction of david 0 stohl and brought to this city and prepared for shipment n t to syracuse new york where mr boyts wife and children reside associated with the death ot of mr hoyt Is a most peculiar circumstance ile he was a man who thought deeply on the problem ot of life and death and was a very careful observer of 0 the beliefs of others not more t than ha it 20 or 30 before his mangled remains were discovered being ground up by the machinery lie he was talking to mr walt madsen about the resurrection asking him what his views on da that at subject wire were when the bajer coaver was finished mr ed a desire to read we 0 I 1 mormon and other works t treating rea tin oh that subject then went up tho stairway of tile the dry grinding room aud nd passed out of the window onto ohio the root to the tower of the endless bucket ele baor which lio must have baye clita d and was examining the machinery and became dizzy or else lost bisbal ance and fell into th the jaws of t the h e cog wheels which mercilessly munched 11 and ground until the bod body was wa 8 wrapped several times abou arou around ta the I 1 e smaller wheel As mr aft floyt fell 11 h he e uttered a terrible scream and while lit I 1 e the wheels revolve very slowly the momentum of the endless bucket chain is so great that after the power has been turned off the wheels continue to revolve for several seconds the power was turned off immediately dia dla tely but the cruel vili wheels eels had done their deadly work and tile the entire force of men at the plant was almost paralyzed with tile the horror of tile the situation then it was that the message was phoned in at tile the same time asking for an undertaker dundei taker and the cor conw mr air hoyt was out here for lias health moie than anything else and had been assigned the position of engineer on the little locomotive which hauled the marl and clay from the excavator to the plant recently he was assigned a more easy position that of going about and watching the machinery repairing a belt or oiling 11 necessary but none of the gentlemen at the plant can understand why he should want to go around the machinery of the endless bucket tower because that particular machinery is 18 so constructed as to be self oiling and on account of the danger ot of getting caught in the cogs no one ever went near unless repairs were necessary then everything was stopped the management of the cement plant are all broken up over the sad adlair and indeed all who knew mr haytas well as the community at large were greatly shocked at his untimely death ile he was a perfect gentleman in every respect kind and considerate si of the feelings of others sunny ot of disposition yet not a man who talked simply to be talking but rather one who weighed carefully his words and was convinced of the truthfulness of ills his statements lie he leaves a wife nife and two grown rovan daughters who must have been heart broken to receive tile the sad news as he was a devoted husband and father corresponding almost dally daily with his family lie ile was also a cousin to tho the father of 0 mr W J bell president of the cement company and the remains were accompanied to syracuse N Y by mr and mrs charles bell who have been residing in this city the little party started on its sad journey friday morning and should reach its destination monday fonday morning much sympathy Is expressed on esery eiery hand for the
