Cyprus, oh they wanted to beat Davis, but not as bad as Davis wanted to beat Cyprus. For examearple, with Cyprus leading 54-5- 0 ly in the fourth period, if the Pirates had of wanted as bad as the Darts they probably would have held their ground and won the game. See, thats amazing. It's all in their minds. ten-inc- h ITS JUST been a basketball season that Ive thoroughly enjoyed. And its because we've got kids that dont quit, who believe in winning usually more than their opponent does. This kind of attitude these kids have, didnt come overnight. Its taken a few years to develop. But you know the good thing is, that this kind of attitude will probably never leave these kids. Lady Cats win state title By TOM HARALDSEN Zaugg, a sophomore in psychology and a daughter of David M and Sports Editor - In the end. Woods MURRAY Cross High got exactly what it deserved the state girl's basketball championship. - 4-- A THE LADY Wildcats did it Saturday night at Murray High by treating runnerup Cyprus the way they've treated everyone else this as it year. 1 heir looks victory brought with it the state title that was rightfully theirs and theirs alone. y During the tournament, as during the season, they took no prisoners, and left no doubters. They were to girls basketball this season w hat the Packers once were to the NFL. the Lakers to the NBA. and the Yankees to the American League. Nothing could or would derail them, or even slow them down. Warhurst may have been the unsung hero all year, especially since Peel revealed after the game that Wendi had played most of the year w ith a nagging heel injury and cart- - lidge problems in her knee. But her efforts didn't go unnoticed, as she and Trimble were named to the alltournament team, in addition to the Team. 4-- A ic WHEN DID Peel know for sure the Wildcats had won it all? I think when we got the 30 point lead on them, then I felt we were going to win.
