FARMINGTON had been awarded the HUD grant in 1983 for a Public Safety Building, but was then required by the state to use the grant funds on the Rudd Creek Debris Basin. The total cost of the debris basin was $1,000,000. The latest statistics show that Utah spends less per student for education than any other state in the nation. We in Utah also have the nations largest classes. Besides that, our student population is growing at a faster rate than any other state. Our schools are in trouble deep trouble. How can we continue to produce above-averag- e instruction with below-averag- e financial support? Like most working people, we educators pay taxes.
