Kathy Villastrigo, Program Coordinator, wishes to thank starts on Jan. 15th Adolescence can be a confusing and stressful time for both the young person and their parents as well. Often times, as the teen struggles towards independence, parents find themselves searching for new and more effective ways of influencing their young people as they prepare for the adult world. OPEN AND honest communication, coupled with an encouraging attitude, often holds the key to this challenge and leads to a comfortable and shared relationship which in turn, helps the young person realize his potential. This philosophy is reflected in STEP Teen: Systematic Training for Parents of Teens," a parent education course developed by Doctors Don Dink-meyand Gary D. McKay. This indepth six week course will be offered by the Davis School District's Parent Education Re- source Center beginning Wednesday, Jan. 15, at the Monte Vista Center, and will continue each Wednesday evening through Eeb. with a beginning time of 19, all of the individual families, businesses, church groups, civic groups for their participation. A 7 p.m. INSTRUCTOR for the course will be Beverly Dawson. She has her masters degree in social work from the University of Utah and is a licensed Clinical Social Worker. She has been with Davis School District since 1973. Prior to this she was an instructor at Utah State University. She is currently with the Davis Diagnostic Center at Monte Vista and is involved with the district's new Behavior Intervention Program. She is married and the mother of four children including two teenagers. CLASS SIZE will be limited and is required with a fee of $25 per couple or $15 per individual. This charge includes the course manual, a useful resource for parents of teenagers. Early registration and preparticipa- payment will guarantee tion in the program. Commodities will be distributed between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Individuals will not be able to pick up commodities for other individuals unless prior arrangements are made with the Human Services Office. Exceptions will be considered for the handicapped and invalids. senior citizens will be and general combined. Senior Citizens (60 and over), will also be served during the general distibution.
