The feasibility of installing a secondary system in the two-thirof Layton that currently has no secondary water will also be explored, COST ESTIMATES from the engineering firm indicate a $12 million price tag for a secondary system that would service the entire community. Mayor Golden C. Sill said next step is to determine if a secondary system is a viable alternative to the present system of using culinary water to water lawns, gardens, etc. The Mayor also said another thing that will be considered is where the additional water should come from and Weber County Canal Company or Weber Basin. IF A secondary system is needed, money could come through the State Board of Water Resources, bonding or a special service district. Because of the cost of the project and the complexity of installing a secondary system, the water project would be done in phases.
