Show SHOWN N YEN of order suspended cutting down grazing privileges washington D C jan 21 l the committee of the utah Wool grow ers association which carne came to washington to secure a modification ot the regulations with respect to grazing upon the forest reserve of that state hag has been successful and has hai scored a great victory for the of utah chief forester graves haa has suspended for one year the order recently made making a cut of twenty seven thousand head in the tile number of sheep that will be permitted to graze next season upon the manti re reserve sevc this means that instead of the order going into effect axt grazing season it will not be effective until the following season this modification rz entirely satisfactory to the wool growers for it will ill give them an opportunity to adjust their herds and their business and will not compel them to sell in the spring as they would have been obliged to do had the original order been enforced the cut of twenty thousand in the number of sheep that are to be permitted to graze upon the manti reserve means a reduction of seventeen and one half per rent cent and if the sheep men were obliged to conform to this order this spring it will entail a great sacrifice upon their part the committee consisting of E if callister president of the utah association W D candland chairman of the board of ian land d commissioners and L R an derson chairman of the board of sheep commissioners today held a conference with chief forester graves at which the subject was over thoroughly the outcome w was as the agreement of forester graves that the order should be suspended for one year and this was quite satisfactory to the committee this means that the utah sheep men will be permitted to graze the same number upon the manti reserve next season as last |
