knights of pythias lodge saturday evening january was a great success in every respect it was the first of a series of entertainments to be given for the purpose of purchasing a new piano for the hall and if those to come areas are as well attended as this one the undertaking will meet with unqualified success prof H C matthews who is the very life of the community from a musical standpoint had entertainments will go for the purchase of a new piano we realize we bcd a new piano and need it badly permit ne to state in behalf of the lodge that there are not etri enough ough funds in the treasury to buy rn instrument instruments and in as much as they do not need med an instrument in in their lodge work they do not feel like burdening themselves with three hundred dollars at this time and of course we cannot blame them we have been laboring for a number of years to get the lodge out of debt and we have just succeeded in doing this the lodge ie is going to do its part towards buying this instrument and we know that all of you are willing i to do your part for we know it means more happiness and more pleasure for you it seems to nw ladies and gentlemen that there js is another feature we should not overlook the t he educational side ade who knows but that among our singers there may be a melba or a madame nordica who knows but 61 t among our pianists there may be a wagner no doubt some of our players may become famous actor actors we hope so ve we hope they may but if you do it will only be through hard systematic work and also bv your taking part in every public entertainment tain ment in which aich 1 ou havo have ar v port unity of doing so bo it lit inga j new instrument for you not only expect better music mu sic better entertainments but we vc also h hope ope that you ou will ill be able to develop ome of your lour talents in conclusion we wish to thank professor matthews and the able corp corps of assistants for the program tonight I 1 hope you have
