Com- START Clarence Robison, Head Track C oach for the past 25 years at the Brigham Young University, will be the guest speaker at the annual Parent and Member Ban 1 B quet of the Millard Eagle Chapter of the Future Farmers of America which will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Fillmore Elementary School Activity Room. Coach Robison was born and raised in Fillmore and graduated from Millard High School where he was a member of the Millard Eagle FFA Chapter and the state half mile champion. He was an outstanding track man at BYU and represented the United States in the London Olympics in 1948. He was a member of two U.S. National teams that toured Europe winning 12 of 16 races against Europeans in 1949. Under Coach Robisons guidance, the Brigham Young Cougars have won 14 Conference championships and finished among the top ten in die country 14 times as well. In addition to his great record as one of the top track coaches in the nation, he served as a Naval officer in the South Pacific in World War D, has served as an LDS Church Bishop, Regional Representative of the Council of the Twelve and as a member of the MIA Genera Board, Provo City School Board, and the executive committee of the Boy Scouts of America, President of the NCAA Trad: and Field Jay Day (second from far right) and Richard Coaches Association and as an announcer for BYU Shaw (on motorcycle, center right ) teamed up basketball games, a duty he still performs. April 3 found Jay and his father, Ken and friend Richard Shaw (son of Scott and Kathleen Shaw) gTandson of Avon Shaw of Fillmore, in Riverside, Calif, to run the View Finders Gran Prix. The Days picked up Richard in Henderson, Nev. to help in the pits. Jay took 3rd place in his 125cc A mature Class. It was a fun trip for all especially with the victory. On April 18. Jay teamed up with Richard to race one of the toughest Dirt races in the country, the Las Vegas 400. The race consists of 400 miles of desert terrain, the two riders, Jay and Richard traded off on Jays 125cc Yamaha. The boys finished first in the 125cc class and first overall in the sportsman class, winning over the larger 250cc and open bikes. Jay and Richard had a pit consisting of 18 people in assisting gassing, and support. repairing, Many hours were spent in preparing the bike for this race and it paid off. Grades 3 will be competing in Division D. Grades 6 will be competing in Division I. There will be 3 competing categories in each division. The categories are model and moving model, stationary will model board. Moving poster include those projects that have moving parts while being exhibited. All students that compete in the 4-- Science Fair will receive certificates of appreciation for their efforts.
