Frank Newman, Jr. and wife Carolyn of Salt Lake, and Maijorie Hoi- daway of Pleasant Grove stopped at Ferns on their way to Cedar City, where Carolyn had a lecture engagement. Carolyn is employed with Smiths Food and Drug Markets. She has ap- peared many times on television in eir com- mercials and also tra- vels extensively lectur- ing. Marjorie remained with Fern until the Newmans from Cedar returned City on April 21. With business behind them they were able to enjoy a relaxed visit and the dinner special very Fern had prepared for them before leaving for Salt Lake. Ferns father, Rulan wife Inez, Melville, and their twin son and Kent Mel- daughter, ville and Kathy Rawlings, all of Salt Lake, visited with Fern the after- noon of April 21. On April 23, Dean Ro- bison and Debbie Jackson drove to Salt Lake, where they visited Paul Robi- sons son, Easton Robison and wife Dorothy, and Deans daughter, Shir- lene and husband Cliff Davis. From there, they went ot Ogden to visit Lyle Callister, wife Rosi- lyn, and their four chil- dren. Motoring on to Logan, they visited other members of the family, and then on to Tremon- ton to see Craig Callis- ter, wife Alice and three children of Chino, Califor- nia, who were there vis- iting Alices family and Craigs brother, Roger wife Uni, Callister, and their three boys, They returned home Ap-ril 26. Jackson Brent Dr. joined his wife Debbie and four children in Salt Lake April 23. They took the children to visit Deb- - The children stayed with their grandparents while Dr. Jackson and Debbie attended the ballet. On Saturday they drove to Ogden to visit Dr. Jack- sons family. On the weekend of April 24 and 25, Lenore Andersons grandson, Gary Pairiott and wife with visited Michele Lenore and the Scottorn families, Fred and Joyce, and Teny and Takako. afternoon On Su a erry an a beautifully prepared barbecue dinner, which Lenore and the Par- riotts attended. Rozann Scottorn, daughter of Fred and Joyce Scottorn, visited over the weekend in Cedar City, returning home the evening of April 25. Merle Hone and her two daughters, Barbara Day of Parowan and Re- becca Labrum, spent a d weekend together. They motored to St. George, where they shopped, toured the tem- pie grounds, ate some delightful meals and went to the horse races. Mer- les son had a horse entered in one of the ra- ces so this made the event quite exciting for them, and just so Merle and the girls wouldnt be disappointed, the horse won the race. When they returned to Parowan the weather was so super extra fine they dressed in their Sunday best and went to church. Its these kind of visits that make you say, "Lets do it again real soon. On June 4, 1981, one year ago, Zella Brunson Allen moved from Kanosh to Fillmore. This was her old stomping ground, She was born and raised here, and after she and her husband settled in Kanosh, her one secret desire was to some day return to Fillmore. Wei, shes here and settled in, just as if she had ne- ver left. Were a year long-awaite- r 30, 1982 Page 4 While Zella lived in Kanosh, she made many special friends, two of them were Bert and Thel- ma Rouse and their adopt forest ranger stationed in Kanosh. They were there several years, then were transferred to Duchesne, and then to Tooele, where they have remained to make their home. Bert is now retired so they have a little time for traveling, Even though they moved from Kanosh, they still remain close friends with ZelIa correspond and visit her at least once a year. Sunday, April 18, was one of those days when Zella welcomed into her home her very dear friends, Bert and Thelma, and spent a afternoon memorable enjoying their company. Guy and Luella Mitch- ell had a round of visitors last week. Luella s grand- son, David Konold, spent Saturday night showing off the braces on his teeth an(j discussing his work wjth computers, and his upcoming mission. Also, Luellas son Wayne and Konold Pauline wjfe stopped by and stayed Saturday night; also son, Richard, and wife Linda made a pit stop on their way from Las Vegas to RiriC( frtnhn, where they were going to pick up their household furnish- mgs, and then return to LaS Vegas, where they will make their home, Luellas son, Rudy and wife Sunny Konold of Las Vegas, presented her with a new granddaugh- ter on Easter morning, Her name is Summer and she was born in Pang- uitch. Maxon and Ruth Thorn- ton went to Klamath Falls, Oregon, to visit Ruths sister Bonnie, husband Scott and four children. On their way home they stopped in Corning, California and spent an enjoyable day with Ruths brother Ken an(j Faye Sudweeks, and to top off their trip they also stopped in Ely and visited another of Ruths brothers, LeMar, and wife June Sudweeks. Their vacation was in celebration of Maxons To further retirement. this celebration, there will be an open house at the City Building Friday, April 30, from 3 to 6 p m. Everyone is invited. Happy retirement, Max Christie Whicker re- ceived word that her mother Rachel Warner of S.L. had suffered a heart seizure and had been taken to the Holy Cross Hospital.
