The officers were elected as follows: My rum Lund, Captain; Idena Crowther, 1st vice captain; Caroline Johnson, 2nd vice captain; Deon Anderson, secretary and treasurer; Bessie Hannah C. Engle, historian; Mathis, Chaplain; Cleo Johnson, Lillian Snow, organist; chorister; Bertha Christiansen, custodian of Relics. This camp has made outstanding records since being organized. Enrollment, three months after organization ' numbered 83 members. Members chose the name for their camp, Uinta Springs", which was taken from a large spring in the mountains west of MARK'S the townsite. It was also the name given to the city when founded by early settlers before it was changed to Fountain Green. The Camp has a marker located in the City Park; which was dedicated June 4, 1952, at Fountain Green. A monument was erected on the highway going to Nephi (on the old road) where Lewis Lund was killed by Indians in the early days. It was unveiled by Sister Mary E. (Polly) Draper (Aury Drapers mother) July 24, 1924, (indicating there must have been a DUP organization at that time as a member of the Utah Central Company came down to the unveiling), but the minutes of such an organization cannot yet be found. Gopher problems can be solved AND OPEN LETTER Dear Editor: This is still the United States of America where each and everyone has the right, No! the obligation, to stand and have his or her say. This is a country of the people and for the people, governed by rules and laws and just plain horse sense. We're not ruled by one person or even a select group, but by duly elected officials whom we ourselves elect When- it becomes obvious the elected officials do not listen and investigate problems which are presented to them by a citizen or citizens whether by chance or because of poor judgement, then the citizen has every right and an obligation to bring them to account This is what has happened regarding the problems at North Sanpete Junior High. It is true discipline starts at home, and the majority of parents take care of it at home, but we cannot sit in the classroom and maintain it nor in the halls. That is the schools responsibility. The bus drivers must enforce discipline to and from school, with no nonsense allowed while boarding, riding or leaving the busses. Someone is going to be injured seriously some day when the bus driver has to slam on his brakes, and then where will the fault lie. However, we cannot assist in solving the problems by n acting like the ostrich who sticks his head in the sand when trouble comes his way, hoping it will go away. It won't! I have heard no one critizing Moroni, its citizens, nor any other community. Dear Editor: I feel I should write a letter about the ad I placed in the classified section under LOST. The two raccoons listed are pets that I have raised since they were babies. Both are used to being fed and sheltered and cared for. One has a red collar and one has no markings on it. Both should be together, but might not Now the reason for this letter is to bring a little extra attention to the fact that they are lost and I am hoping the people reading this will take the time to look around in their sheds or trees and if anyone sees them, I hope they will call me. Even if one should be found hurt or dead, I hope you will call .so I can check. I, for one, get tired of a steady diet about Aunt Toolees travel log to her relatives 3 miles distance! In the June or July 1975 school board minutes, one will read that it was suggested to place Bruce Irons on probation, and that the proposal was tabled with no further action. When I later asked the board president, then Mr. David Peterson, as to why no further action had been taken on the alleged much needed probation, his reply was that Mr. Irons had been on probation ever since he, Mr. Peterson, had been on the school board, but that nothing could be done about it With the support of the parents, I hope that something constructive can be done about it now. A very fine teacher at the junior high commented to me once that several times he had walked through the junior high ,locker room and had been embarrassed by a few couples who were engaged In heavy necking and petting, at one time or another. His comment did not imply that all students were practicing such behavior, but indicated the same concern as 'the rest of us would have had even though it may be only a few couples.
