Curtis presented the membership of Melba Brady Jacobson, who was sustained as a member of our Ward. Announcements included the Stake Fathers and Sons banquet to be held Feb. 8; a meeting of Sanpete representatives to the Stale Capitol Bldg, on Wednesday, Feb. 5. This concerns our school situation. The Primary Penny Parade will be this week, Feb. Mrs. Mary Gilgen announced a special PTA. meeting for Thursday evening, Feb. 6, to be held in the Moroni Elementary School at 7 p.m. Mrs. Jack (Ellie) Smith, the First Vice President of the State PTA will be in attendance, and perhaps other members from the State. Everyone interested is invited and urged to attend. The little son of Mr. and Mrs. David (Jackie) Olsen was given his name and blessing by his Uncle Steven Olsen. The baby was given the name of Troy David Olsen. Those assisting Uncle Steven were Daddy David, Grandfather Jay Olsen, Andrew Peterson earns Eagle Scout Award Andrew Peterson, grandson, of Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Peterson of Fairview and son of Dr. and Mrs. Lewis A. Peterson of Salt Lake City has just received his Eagle Scout Award. He is a member of Troop 656 in the Old Mill District. Andrew began his Scouting Activities as a Cub Scout and has served his Scout troop as patrol leader and senior patrol leader. He has earned 27 merit badges and completed the and other requirements for earning his Eagle Award. He arranged a musical program which was presented at a number of nursing homes for the benefit of the patients in the area. He is a talented pianist and plays for the ward priesthood meetings. He is also president of his priesthood quorum. He has played little league baseball and football but lists his favorite sports as skiing, golf and hunting. Andrew is thirteen years of age and is on the high honor roll at Bonneville Jr. High where he is in the 8th grade. Health seminar being planned (causes, Calvin great-grandfath- . The Merrie Miss Daddy Daughter Party was held on Saturday Feb. 1. The theme was; An Old Fashioned Picnic. On Sunday, the Normans visited with Mr. and Mrs. C. Gordon Norman in Spanish Fork. Mrs. Pauline Rasmussen has been confined to a Salt Lake hospital since Christmas but was released last week and is convalescing at the home of family members in Salt Lake City. In the entrance hall hung the Merrie Miss Markers, on which were printed, The Articles of Faith, and the emblems earned for achievements of each girl. Greeting the guests were Sharon Bills, Jody Gilgen, and Bonnie Mikkelson. The following talks were given: What it Means to be a Merrie Miss, given by Michelle Dye; Meaning of the Markers, given by Mary Lou Johnson; the Meaning of the Circelette, Louise Wilson; The Kathleen Meaning of a Johnson; The Meaning of the Code, Trudy Gilgen. All the girls sang their Code Song. The accompanist was Jody Gilgen. Closing prayer was given by Deanna Mitchell. After the program came the games, prepared by the girls. They were so much fun, especially the Shaving Game when each girl lathered her fathers face and had to shave (no blade) the lather off. There were sack races, and three-legge- d races. Everyone did the square dance, Oh Johnny. Next came the sack-luncpicnic These had been prepared at home by the mothers and the girls. Miss Doris Aagard and her friend, Miss Debbie Nelson, students at Ricks College in Rexburg, were home for the weekend, visiting with Doriss parents, Mr. and Mrs. John H. Aagard. We are sorry to hear of the illness of one of our former residents, Mrs. Burton (Ila) Holman, who is in the LDS Hospital. The baby is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Forrest (Doris) Anderson, and is their frist grandchild. The parents of this little one are Mr. and Mrs. Bill (Julie) Painter. The baby was given the name of Leanne and was given her blessing and name by grandfather James Painter, who was assisted by grandfather Forrest, father Bill, and two of his brothers. After the meeting, Mrs. Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Madsen joined with the rest of the family for a dinner at the home of grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Painter. films. All in all there were five babies named in the East Ward. MOVING SOON Edwin Burnside Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 31, 1975 in Kearns for a former Mt. Pleasant native, Edwin Earl Burnside, 56 of Kearns who died on Jan. 27, 1975 in a Salt Lake County Hospital of Pulmonary disease. Mr. Burnside was born on June 11, 1918 in Mt. Pleasant to Earl and Hannah Ericksen Burnside. He married Erma Jack Steck, instructor of the mobile home building class and some of the students who completed the class recently. Mobile home class completed With expert guidance from the Instructor Jack Steck, twenty one boys have completed their first Mobile Home unit as part of an raining experience in the Snow College Area g Vocational School. The boys names are: Mike Sorenson, Clive Zabriskie, Billy visiting her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Russel Bailey. She is a daughter of Mont and Pauline Rasmussen of Provo. The Junior Sorosis Club were guests of Myrtle Kelson last week. Pinocle was played and Bertha Bulowand and Dora Morley were score winners. Mrs. Forrest Christensen visited for a week with her daughter Mr. and Mrs. Larry Hansen and son Bryan in Ogden. Ckeder ewA Mrs. la Roy Stapley (Geneva) and daughter Marilyn spent the weekend of Jan. 19, in southern Utah. They visited in Cedar City, St. George and Washington with relatives. Then on Sunday they met at the home of Genevas sister in St. George where her brother and family, two sisters and their families and her mother met to celebrate their mothers (Zina Prisbreys) 80th brithday. Then they all traveled to Cedar City to visit another sister who was in the hospital. So all there really enjoyed being together. Spending a few days recently with the LaRoy Stapleys was his sister Carma and Perry Keller from Dillon, Montana. On Fast Sunday there were four generations who attended Church in Mr. and Mrs. Steven Andersons ward in Sandy to see little George Steven recieve his name and blessing. He was named by his father, Steven Anderson. The babys relatives who attended the meeting were: Nelson Johansen, Mt. Pleasant, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Anderson (grandparents) and Jeff, Chester. Mr. and Mrs. Randy Jorgensen, Ephraim, Mr. and Mrs. Steven Anderson and family. Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Taylor had a family dinner at their home in honor of George being named that day. In providing a variety of experiences, the class is working toward the completion of a 23 tandum axel trailer that will be opened to public bid upon completion. The last tandum opel trailer built by the vocational school was awarded by bid to Mr. and Mrs. Ray Nielsen of Fairview. TheL&M Manufacturing plant under the direction of Harry Mosher has been most cooperative in helping the Area Vocational School establish and maintain this class. The Area Vocational School Instructor, Jack Steck, is highly trained in Mobile Home Construction. The Mobile unit will now be with filled elementary vocational simulation stations and will be shared with all the various elementary schools in Sanpete County. SPRING CITY Mia Maids and Venturers enjoyed a very lovely formal dinner recently at the David Sorensen home. Mrs. Bruce Harless of Mt. Pleasant also gave pointers on ettiquette. Youth advisors are Bob Castle and Mrs. Taylor. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Allred are happy over the birth of their 8th great grandchild. A baby girl born January 28 at Provo. The parents are Ross and Yvonne Allred Argile of Provo. The grandparents are Von and Edice Allred, Provo, Great grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Allred, Spring City and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Allred, Fountain Green. In the ward sacrament services Mrs. Verene Rostron was released as a ward officer. Mrs. Doreen Johnson was sustained as a Primary teacher. Miss Ruth Black was home Sunday from Salt Lake City visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. Francis Black and to audition Three Snow College Theater graduates will participate in the University Repertory Theater Assn, national auditions Feb. at Long Beach State University in Long Beach, Ca. The three are Leslie Allred, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Allred, Spring City; M itzi Anderson, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Anderson, Gunnison, and Martha Keeler, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs.- - Paul Keeler, 7-- 9 Horsley on March 4, 1940 in Price. He was a retired coal miner and Utah State employee. He was a member of the LDS Church. Survivors include his wife, sons, daughter, James E., Granger; David E., Lyman, Wyo.; Michael L., Vallejo, Calif.; Thomas L., Kearns; Mrs. Robert (Elizabeth) McCracken, Pocatello, Idaho; 8 grandchildren; mother, Salt Lake City; brothers, sisters, Clifford, Norwalk, Calif.; Willis, Mrs. Edmund (Evelyn) Eleven, both Kearns, Melvin, Kent, both Orem; Glen, Ronald, Ervan, Mrs. Vernon (Janet) Campos, Mrs. James (Anna Beth) Nielson, all of Salt Lake City. Burial was in the Memorial Gardens of the Valley. Manti. They were chosen to compete in the national auditions after performing last week in the auditions at the University of Utah. Seven judges selected the regional winners. They will now compete for regional assistantships, fellowships, three attended Utah State grants and scholarships. Misses Allred, Anderson and Keeler hope to engage in graduate study in theater. After graduating from Snow, where they had lead roles in several major productions, all University, where they continued their activity in theater. Miss Keeler has since graduated from Utah State and is now teaching at Gunnison Valley High School. Miss Anderson also graduated and is now working in Logan.
