They are convinced that many of the trees will die because there is no water in the ditches to water them any more. It truly would be a shame if their fears became reality and the large old trees actually did die. Most of the trees in question are in the city street and therefore the City has in interest in these trees and what happens to them. It is not the wish of the City that the trees die but as a practical matter, their destiny is in the hands of the property owners, since thev receive the benefit of the trees and must water them. Some people in town are anticipating the demise of the trees and wish to take them out beforehand. The City generally docs not disapprove, provided that the person removing the trees obtains a permit to do so. There is no fee for the permit, but the person owning the property where the trees are their written located must give consent before the permit can be issued. The tree remover is also required lo remove the limbs and twigs as well as the stump and fill the hole. Forms for culling permits are available at the Citv office.
