Show Our celebrated fliirar hm iiiik 'fr f ; STELLA DAY Max Robison and his wife, Evelyn, drove over from Della one afternoon last week to purchase two more copies of "Milestones of Millard" while the books Max remarked how he enjoyed are still available. reading about how adept these sturdy pioneers were at solving the difficult problems which confronted them. He is still very much interesed in his hometown and subscribed to THE PROGRESS in order to keep right on what is happening to all of us. How he wishes more people would phone their news in to THE PROGRESS, as he would love to hear about each of us oftener than he dot's. Since I have so many people coming here to bring me biographies for the new book, which I am editing, about the early settlers or sometimes they come to purchase "Milestones of Millard" or pay their deposit on the new book. I have contact with many people and can mention some of them in my column, which will help former residents keep in touch with at least those interested in history. It is surprising how many times I phone relatives about certain dates or events which are related in these biographies in order to get the details recorded as accurately as possible. Tor instance, Dawn Trimble came with the biography of her grandfather, Jesse Giles, and before she left we found out that the names of his children with the dates of their births were not in the biography. Dawn is, therefore, writing her aunt Most of his children have to get this information. passed away, as have many others w ho have not written dow n the important dates in their family history. Many of the grandchildren are anxious to get this information, but dont know just where to get it. 1 called Orval Starlcy this week to help me get more information about his parents and he was able to supply what I needed. However, many of the people I phone haven't the information, but arc willing to write to relatives and see if they have what I need. Dean Robison, although she is only married to a Robison, has helped get biographies of the Robison family as well as many of the Chcsleys and Georges. have The fact is that many of the daughters-in-lagiven me more help than the children themselves. Edith Callister is another who has written dozens of biographies about the Callisters, Stevens, and Robins. I am constantly phoning Helen Rogers, Dathel Whit aker. and Vi Watts to get information about whom to write or phone to get more information on certain Kanosh families. Algie Stephenson, of Holden, and Maxine Robins, of Scipio, arc real pals who are so w to help me and never seem to get out of patience. have enjoyed hearing from many former residents who cither order "Milestones of Millard" or send me downpav ments on our new book (we w ill soon decide on the name). Roma Gull Bird, of Meadow, has filled in blind spots in some of Meadows biographies, and really do appreciate Barta and Rex Melville, who have more information on the Melville family than all the rest of the relatives put together. Besides sheets on gcncologv, everyone needs biographies on the members of the family telling their accomplishments and just what their part was in helping to make a betier world. was happy to hear from my niece, Ethel Davies Sorenson, wife of Markus Sorenson. She says she has been busy working, but now she is taking time to gather some biographies and read of the past in the "Milestones of Millard." She, too. would like more facts about her ancestors as well as those of Markus. It is surprising how much you can get from other diaries, if you just take notes as you read. But first yon must have vital statistics, then when vou add the notes you get from reading the diaries of friends who mention your relatives, you can put together a fairlv good biography. When writing to your relatives mention the fact that the East Millard DI E Officers are taking orders for our new biography book and that will help us get the word to descendants of these outstanding people of whom we arc recording their activities. It is difficult to let former residents know of our books. For instance, a few days ago a very attractive young matron came to my home to buy two copies of "Milestones of Millard." She is Lorcna Ahlstrom Rrevost. daughter of Harold Ahlstrom of Kanosh. She and her brother had come to Kanosh to spend the day with her father as it was his birthday. She saw our book and came to get the two copies w bile there are still some to buy. If she had not seen the book she would never have known thete was such a book. Therefore. I am asking each of you to help us adv ertise our books. A note for the society column: Our good friend and relative. Newel Day, who works in the Manti Temple dining the week, but comes home everv SunJav and sings in the Second Ward Choir, was just beaming with happiness as he introduced a very charming lady as his fiancee.
