Wright SERVICES FOR MAYOR WRIGHT Funeral for services P. Wright, Golden 72, long time educator and mayor of Fillmore were held Tuesday. Nov. 9, 1976 in the Fillmore Stake Center. He died Friday in the Payson hospital after suffering a heart attack while watching the Millard Eagles play the Delta Rabbits in the semi-fingame on the Payson 2-- High field. Mr. Wright had been mayor of Fillmore for six years. During his tenure the city grew in population from 1400 in 1970 to about 2000 residents now. The Utah League of Cities and Town presented Mayor Wright the coveted Tom award as the McCoy state's outstanding elected municipal official. He had served as Principal of Millard High school prior to serving in the Air Force during World War II. and left the service as a colonel. He returned to the principalship at MHS then became Superintendent of Millard Schools. He returned to Millard as principal until his retirement from the school system. Mr. Wright was born Nov. 11. 1903. in Hinckley, Millard County, to Hyrum Frank and Elizabeth Pratt Wright. He attended Utah State University. He married Ardcll Ludlow July 17, 1936 in the LDS Logan Temple. Survivors include his wife: a son and daughter. Dr. Kirk Wright, principal of Juab School: High Duane Mrs. (Linda) Baugh. Fillmore; six grand- children and a brother, 11. Pratt Wright. Morgan. In a very close, semi- final battle the Millard Eagles defeated the Delta Rabbits and earned a spot in the State Finals. Delta scored first, but the Eagles came right back when a 47 yard pass from Dean Stephenson to Don Beckstrand set up a 13 yard T.D. pass from Dean Stephenson to Mark Miller, The extra point attempt failed and Delta let Then Delta scored again, the extra point attempt 8-- w failed, and the score was 14-Following Deltas kick off the Eagles drove down field where Dean 1 Stephenson scored on a sneak. yard quarterback Dean S. also scored the extra points. Warner has successfully completed basic combat and advanced individual training at Fop Sill, Oklahoma, John is the son of Bishop and Mrs. Jerrold Warner of Fillmore. John graduated in field artillery operations at the U.S. Army Field Artillery Training Center. John is a graduate of Millard High School and is presently attending Utah State University and is the recipient of a National Guard scholarship. PVT Warner will function in this unit as a creman on the 155MM SP Howitzer. His training and proven expertise with all phases of field artillery operations are a big asset to this unit. NAVY TRAINING Navy Seaman Recruit Herbert E. Orullian, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Orullian of 369 N. First St., Fillmore, Utah, has completed recruit training at the Naval Training Center, San Diego. During the training cycle, he studied general military subjects designed to prepare him for further academic and on the job training in one of the Navys w basic occupational fields. Among the subjects he studied were seamanship, close-orddrill, naval history and first aid. A 1976 graduate of Millard High School, he joined the Navy in August eight-wee- er 1976. k and Instructor PAINTER TO HOLD 20-1- g The game was delayed after the touchdown while Lee Wood, operating a forklift at a near by construction site, brought the machine dn to the field to bring Mr. Wright down from the tower. The only access to the booth is by climbing a ladder to the high tower. During the afternoon, Mrs. Hunter presented a review of Fillmores activity during the 2 yr. period of the program and gave credit to Mayor Wright, the City Council and dozens of groups and individuals who have made this growth possible. The workshop was given to encourage towns and cities to work on the 5 areas of improvement. Fillmore City won First Place in the first 2 year period (1974) for Economic growth. There were 74 cities entered this year. The committee wishes to express thanks to the people of East Millard tor their fine support in these projects.
