Just what is it that motivates your actions each day. Just what do you expect to accomplish by doing whatever you are doing? Could you actually put into words your code of ethics? Do you have guidelines to lead you where you are going or do you depend on instinct? Are you just interested in improving yourself and your family members. Do you sincerely believe that you are your brother's keeper? These are questions which face each of us as we begin each new day, that is if we ever take time to analyze just where our present mode of living will lead us. Young people live from day to day, caring little about family finances, just so their wants are supplied. Then comes the day they graduate from high school and are faced with the decision of what trade or profession to follow in order to make "plenty of money, instead of considering how well adapted they are for doing the job and how they will enjoy doing it for the rest of their lives. Life has really become very complicated. Just a few years ago, everyone seemed to be able to make a good living, reside in a modern home, equipped with all of the modern appliances, own one or two cars, and perhaps a boat; go on vacations with no worries, or at least very few. We dance, we must pay the piper Suddenly we are faced with a gas shortage, which most people thought would be settled in just a few months. But as the years pass and the whole world becomes involved, we realize slowly, that something is wrong with our way of life. We have been rushing here and there with no blue print of where our rushing will lead us. , In the meantime, nearly every family has gone heavily into debt, buying all of these well equipped new homes, new cars, trucks, jeeps, boats and what have you. How could we resist when we were coaxed to get a credit care which is just as good as the cash. Come on in our bank, we will take care of your every want. Paying these debts depends on being constantly employed, getting that check each month in time to make the payments on the house, the car and all of the rest of the "easy payment plan of living in luxury. Or.e after another of the big companies have to cut down on production, due to gas and energy shortages. are out of jobs, ihe unemployment spreads," and before we realize it the country isiaeed with a depression. Long lines of men and women wait in line to receive their More-employe- unemployment checks. The people are demanding the government provide jobs for them. But, how is the government to obtain all of this extra money when it depends on the money it gets from taxation to pay its obligations? The government means "the people," and "we the people" have de- - Mushroom recipes are car tied as a public service and to support an industry in our area. GENERALLY a very good idea. Electric meters are precision measuring devices. They record, in units called kilowatt hours, how much electricity you use. One kilowatt hour (kwh) is 1,000 watts of electricity consumed for one hour, or the power required to burn a light bulb for 10 hours. 100-wa- tt 1, 2, 3 . 1 Your meter has either 4 or 5 dials. F.ach dial has 10 numbers and a pointer. The pointers turn very, very slowly, from smaller to larger numbers as electricity is used. Note that all the pointers do not turn in the same direction. -4 Regular dusking of your meter can indicate the effectiveness of your eneigv coiiHivation efforts. For example, read your meter at the same hour on successive days. The ditlerence between such readings is your consumption of eleitiiuty in kilowatt hours.
