Show Research Begun In ‘Triggering’ Thunder CAPE KENNEDY (UPI)— The government begins a project this week called Mighty Mouse that will attempt to trigger lightning by shooting small rockets into potential thunderheads The idea is to see if the electrical charge in a cloud can be drained enough so that a manned rocket could be safely launched throughit. The six-week project is the direct result of the Apollo 12 moonship launcting last November. The rising space machine was struck twice by lightning shortly after blastoff into dense clouds andscientists determined later that the rocketitself touched it off.
