Show Page 7C-THE SUNDAY HERALD, Provo, Utah Sunday, Apri) 12, 1970 For years, Brigham Young University has enjoyed the privilege of joining hands with the Central Utah Community in working together for the welfare and well-being notonly of the nearly 25,000 full-time students at the ‘““Y”, but also for the benefit of all citizens through- out the area. Mostrecently, announced plans for a massive industrial park on the old Ironton site in Springville offers continued evidence that BYU is an integral and vital part of Utah County. Here are a few other examples: COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT Not only do students and faculty members at BYU take an active interest in local affairs, but the social, cultural and athletic events offered by the university have become focal points in the lives of all who live here. LOCAL iMPACT BYU’s impact throughout the area each year becomes more impressive. More students with more buying power are contributing to the local economy, more jobs are being created, more construction and more progress contributes endlessly to the welfare of the entire valley. EMPLOYMENT TASK FORCE Hundreds of employers from throughout Utah, as well as thousands of others from throughout the nation, come to the BYU Campus and like what they see. As a result, BYU students are in great demand becauseoftheir superior Bi ’ f education of mind, body and spirit, together in an ideal social climate. EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES Each year a record number of Central Utah men and women take advantage of the excellent educational opportunities offered at : BYU. Not only do they becomefull-time stua denis, but in growing numbersthey are taking advantage of the programs offered through BYU Evening Classes and BYU Home Study. |
