They areleft to right BYU Intramural Program Has Wide Participation By JOE WATTS Herald Sports Editor From tiddly-winks and kite flying, to checkers and chess,to footbali and basketball, the Brigham Young University intramural program has somethingto offer every student interested in a diversion activity to break up the strenuous hours of study. If students express aninterest in an activity it won't be long until it becomes anintegralpart of the total intramural program at BYU. That’s why arm wrestling, tiddly-winks, kite flying, and pike fishing were added to the already long list of activities offered by the Intramura! Departmentthis year. And oh, yes, dart throwing was alsc added this year. ‘Type of Interest To show the type of interest these new programs have generated, would you believe 200 entries in the arm ing tournament and 150 entries in the pikefishing contest? That’s the report from Dick Zimmerman,individual .ports supervisor ‘of the int. amural program. The intramural program has a long ‘ist of individual sports activities such as horseshoes, tennis, paddlebali, badminton, table tennis, checkers, chess, handball, wrestling, weightlifting, and others. For those interested in team activities there are also a wide variety of sports under the direction of Team Sports Manager Dennis Bench. Such team sports include flag football, basketball, water basketball, volleyball, softbai, rugby, and soccer. IntramuralDirector Intramural director is Gary Palmer, and he handles the bruntof the intramural burden, Heisa full timestaff memberof the College of Physical Education. Orem Tigers Win Triangular Meet The Orem Tigers captured a triangular track meet victory Friday over Hillcrest and Bingham. The Tigerstallied 87 points to handily defeat Hilicrest with 60 points and Bingham with 2% counters.
