and some little time ago the bishops of 0 the city wards conceived the idea of getting up a grand party in his honor the plan was thoroughly talked over and finally mentioned to several ot of the stake boards the members of which readily joined in and then the question of who should be invited was considered as well as where the party should be held the last item was considered first and soon disposed of by the tender of the high school and their the matter ot of who should be included was more easly determined the guests included all the bishops their counselors and wives of the box elder stake the high council and wives patriarchs and wives stake board members wives and husbands presidencies cies or of all the auxillia auxiliary ry organizations of the city with wives and husbands it was estimated that the list would include ln in the neighborhood of 0 people and the estl estimate mate was very nearly correct for when the guests were seated at the banquet tables there were with the ses committees labored faithfully and hard bard in preparing for the evento event and all the while pres stohl was in total ignorance ot of what was to befall him along in the week prof merrill stunts to prevent the visit to logan all kinds of excuses were made and reasons given why the president should not go to logan so lie he finally telephoned the people in cache that he could not be with them ire ile was kept in salt lake city all day saturday which Is not his bis cu custom storn and came home tired out in the evening lie ile was so tired that he almost felt like declining the proceeded with after a speech of welcome by bishop wright president stohl was called upon and spoke his gratitude at meeting so many of his friends the room was well filled more speechmaking was indulged in interspersed with musical numbers and readings and then bishop blackburn was called upon made a neat speech the winding up of which was the presentation to president stohl or of a gold spirit of the occasion and the spirit of love tor for him and appreciation of his labors filled the hearts of the friends of president stohl after the guests were seated grace was said by patriarch E P cordon and then the physical exercises commenced young ladies waited upon the tables served hot vegetables cortee coffee et and other dishes until every craving had been satisfied for some time to come the ladies with the relief society officers at their head prepared one of the most splendid banquets that could possibly be imagined ined anad when all had been filled to the limit there was
