Show TV IV), lav The Sail Lake Tribune, Wednesday. October Again, Who Shot J.R.? Find Out on Nov. 2 1 By Harold Schindler Tribune Television Editor CBS has squeezed Dallas and the unpleasant business of J.R. Ewing for all it was worth, and then some during Ehrlichs Magic Bullet, obviously. Dont forget, you read it here first, folks FOR WHAT ITS WORTH: If that enough to bore you to tears. CBS has another surprise in store this coming Sunday when the network does away permanently with the lovable dingbat, Edith Bunker. In Sunday's episode, Archie (Carroll O'Connor) has to confront a situation he cannot face. In the second season premiere of Archie Bunker's Place, he must cope with the unexpected death of Edith The program airs at 7 special hour-lonpm. on KSL. . . The sixth game of the World Series smothered the opposition last week, according to the A.C. Nielsen Jr. survey of 73 prime time television programs. The game and its companion piece, the World Series Pregame Show, Game Six; collected a large enough audience to put NBC atop the ratings race for the fourth time in six weeks (That sobbing in the background is fallout from ABC and CBS.) According to Nielsens number, 40 in percent of all the television-home- s America tuned in to some portion of the City Philadelpla Phillies-Kansa- s Royals finale last Tuesday. The rest of the top 20 for the week placed this way: 60 Minutes, in third spot; then Dallas, Love Boat, Real People, and the NBC Movie: Sophia Loren: Her Own Story," in seventh place; then NFL Monday Niht Football: Oakland vs. Pittsburgh, Dukes of Hazzard, and The Last Song, in 10th place. Lifes a Circus, Charlie Brown, in 11th; Its The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown," followed by That's Incredible, Fantasy Island, Little House on the Prairie, CBS Movie: Pleasure Palace, NBC Movie: A Cry For Love, Father Figure, in 18th place, then Nashville Palace, and Of the 73 Games People Pity. network prime time programs, CBS Reports: The Saudis, was dead last, edging out NBC New Magazine With David Brinkley for that dubious distinction. isnt the past nine months and no matter how large the who cares continent grows, the network continues to heap it on. Now CBS promises to g n during November, with episodes starting a week from Thursday at 9 p.m. (All together now: Who cares!). And just so those viewers who may have forgotten the details can refresh their memories, the network intends to cram four (count 'em, four) hour-lonepisodes into the schedule in a three-da- y period beginning on that Thursday, reviewing the circumstances preceding the attack on the despicable oil baron, portrayed by Larry Hagman. Thus, the plot will drag along Thursday, Nov. 6, when J.R. attempts to sell oil to an Asian group; on to the following Friday at 8 p.m. with the sale of oil leases (wiping out the fortunes of former Ewing Oil Company business associates in the process), and that same night beginning at 9 p.m., then the first part of the season Dallas premiere when J.R. is plugged in his penthouse office where we left the rat last March as the season came to a g y close). Still, Dallas will stagger through three additional episodes before CBS spills the beans. The second part of the season premiere will air Sundy, Nov. 9, at 9 p.m. (on KSL) as Hagman-Ewin- g hovers near death and the family gathers to wait news of his fate. (Will Hagman get a raise?) (Will the audience chant: Funds Setback Hits Atlantic City Dunes cares!)? On Friday, Nov. 14, the search for the benefactor continues and on Friday, Nov. 21, the world will learn who did the deed. (Once again, all together: Who gives a . . .!) ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) The proposed Dimes casino hotel, long stalled by a lack of financing, has By now all concerned should have a craw full. Prime Motor Inns Inc. of Clifton, N.J., which operates 26 motels in the Northeast and Florida, says it cannot apply a $100 million loan commitment to the partially completed Dunes project. Actually, the way J.R. Ewing played around, the answer is logical and elementary. The performance by RDT, however, the critic conceded, did powerfully evoke the atmosphere and aspiration of a crucial era, and that alone is a singular and treasurable accomplishment. Weekdays4:30 EL In her dance column in Monday afternoons Washington Star, Anne Marie Welsh termed the RDT dancers performances Sunday a monumental, overly ambitious effort to retrieve a revolutionary and substantial early period of modern dance. Calling each dancer by name, however, she said that each made distinctive contributions," also, she conceded that their reconstructions of works by nine earlier choreographers of the early period of modern dance are probably as accurate as research can make them, nonetheless," she contended, in most cases, spirit and style were so deadened, individual differences so blunted, that even historical interest could not excuse the lifelessmess onstage . . .
