Show FIFTEEN YEARS OLD last friday january ath marked the fifteenth anniversary of the admission of utah into the union ot of states utah was long entitled to a place in the union before she was finally admitted but because ot of the work ot of the traducer statehood was denied her until finally an agreement was reached whereby Nhe reby the objectionable features were removed and she proudly took her place along NOW aith her sisters since statehood was granted we have had three governors the first one serving to tino terms or eight years in n the order of their administration they are heber 1 ai I wells john C cutler and william spry the state has made rapid progress in every line but the most pronounced is perhaps that of education one of the you youngest n states in point of habitation as well as membership in the union she has las advanced with such rapid strides that today there are only two states in n the entire union which supersede supercede super cede her ler in the matter of schools and education generally the school system in operation in utah is looked upon with great favor by the great educators ot of tho the unite states and many kind expressions have found their way into the public press in praise of the work being accomplished by our public school system the population ot of the state has very materially increased in the last fifteen years also until now the state is entitled to another representative 1 in the national congress under the latest readjustment according to population ula tion tills this state will get two representatives senta tives and the state will likely oe be divided by a line running east and west to make a northern and southern congressional district the industries of 0 the state have kept pace with the general growth and id our com merical system Is strong influential and tar far reaching in its operations erat ions some of the real wealthy men of 0 the nation reside within the borders 0 of the state and their influence extends to almost every part of the nation as well as to other countries but it is not upon the wealthy ones which the state slate depends for its stability no better class of people can be found anywhere in all the wide world than those who reside in the state of utah every man woman and child feels himself a sovereign and deep in the hearts of the people there is a love and loyalty tor for and to the institutions of government of this nation which cannot be surpassed by any people utah utah beautiful beautiful land fair are thy vallies thy mountains tall and grand ever my song shall be utah for thine and thee land of the braie brae and free utah the queen of the west ivest |
