Show Answer by Prof. E. G. Titus, A. C. U. The small pinkish worm which you l report in your strawberry plants is probably the young of one of the sma'lcr moths. So far we have been unable to find any means of controlling control-ling these insects, that can be successfully suc-cessfully used by the large grower. Where a man has only a small patch i' will probably pay him to dig up the plants injured and burn them. If this is carefully done the pest can be kept from causing -much damage. Another An-other treatment that seems to be of some value is the injecting of carbon bi-sulphidc in the ground close to the plants. One should be very careful in the use of this liquid since it ;s quite explosive in the presence of any kind of fire. We shall be pleased to hear from others having this same , trouble in order to learn how widely distributed the injury is at present |
