How many pounds do you M advise sowing to the acre? Is it bad M to smut? Docs it winter-kill? Is "it M bad to shell? Please give us any oth- M cr information you can. S C. W. RICHARDS, Fielding H I Answer by J. C. Hogcnson, A. C. U. H The berries of the Turkey Red M Wheat being somewhat smaller than JA the berries of most other wheats it H would be desirable to sow less per jjfl acre of this seed than of most others. fl From thirty to forty-five pounds is M about the amount that ought to be M sown, depending on the soil and M moisture. It 'docs not smut badly, M neither does it winter kill, in fact it M seems to stand the winter better than l most of the other wheats. It docs not jH shell badly. However, if it is allowed M to stand very long after becoming H fully ripe the spikclcts have a ten- IH dency to separate, thus causing shell- H ing. Taken all in all, however, I jH think the Turkey Red Wheat will II compare favorably with any other .M kind of wheat. 'H |
