Show OBITUARY on the seventh day of july ut at four and forty five minutes in the fifteenth ward of this city sister janet annes jones passed away peacefully and quietly after an illness of six weeks deceased was born bom in edinburgh scotland august 1 1850 being 38 years 11 months and 6 days old at the time of her death she was the daughter of george and agnes swan and wife of elder nathaniel V jones with whom she was united in marriage on the of december 1872 in salt lake city her death was occasioned by inflammatory flam matory rheumatism which went to the heart and produced dropsy she struggled hard bard against this complication of diseases for six weeks with that womanly courage and fortitude for which she was noted and at last succumbed being fully reconciled to the will of the lord some days before her death she requested of her husband that the elders who were present to administer to her be informed that she was reconciled to go if the lord so willed it and desired that they should exercise faith in her behalf with him that if he had au summoned her home she might be quickly released from her pain and suffering and go to rest although her life has been short she has affliction successfully and lived through much during the year and a half in which her husband was wrongfully incarcerated in prison she was always unfaltering and undeviating in her attentions to him and to those imprisoned for the truths sake many of the brethren will remember and bless her memory for the many acts of kindness and benevolence bestowed on them while in prison the fu funeral services were held in the ward meetinghouse meeting house on tuesday the ath dinst at 3 p m the house was draped in white and elaborately decorated with floral emblems for the occasion elder george G bywater by water offered the opening prayer and the speakers were bishop joseph pollard elders T C griggs john sharp and john nicholson and president george Q cannon who delivered an instructive discourse the benediction was wa pronounced by elder B R C badger and the remains were conducted to their last resting place by a large concourse of friends sister jones was a devoted and affectionate wife and mother and faithful fri end she was the mother of six daughters five of whom are living she was sincerely beloved by her husband and children who while they mourn the loss of her society look forward with foud fond anticipation to the time when they will meet her where there shall be no more sorrow and no more death mourn not the dead who peaceful I 1 lay ay their wearied bodies down who leave the frail and mortal clay to seek a fadeless crown dry up the unavailing tear repress the selfish sigh know that the spirit ransomed rans omed here yet lives and neler neer shall die then why the sorrowing lip and eye the aching heart and head remember Et member he who cannot lie hath said mourn not the dead |
