Show atmospheric NATURE A proper understanding of wave currents and cloud formation enables one to tell the various changes as they come along and prior to their occurrence each formation gives forth its ite own peculiar weather intensified fied or modified according to the degree or various degrees of formation the more dense and humid tho the atmosphere the greater is the perfection of formation obtained no storms storm of any character has ever visited any COU country atry or climate without warning especially in its ita own immediate vicinity no matter how sudden might have been its approach I 1 think it was said that no warn warning ing of the great samoan storm was given or detected by any one until its approach if true then it was because of a lack of knowledge carelessness or that no one was interested ghere are too few who understand der stand wave currents and cloud formation else warning should be given of all tornados and cyclones by some one in the course of thele their immediate vicinity describing their path etc once this summer I 1 said no storm could transpire without my knowledge and of its character this is true but in doing this I 1 may speak of some we here in utah may not get especially in the summer season causes of this I 1 have mentioned before two or three times this summer I 1 have mentioned storms with colder weather some one said I 1 think it never came this in wrong the trouble was we did not get it at the same time northern idaho was reported cool and stormy and in east wyoming in particular and portions of colorado including denver it was quite stormy and cool and at times quite wintry any weather that thail I 1 may predict will surely come to pass although in this mountain region it may not be always in the exact location or at the precise time the storm a ani u i floods of two weeks ago were a complete verification of what was predicted on august the last one came to us in part lightning and thunder thu juder hall hail fell to the west south and east and also some in our valley also light frost on monday morning perhaps at some future time I 1 will describe storm clouds crow cross and op currents di different Terent heights depths and temperature of cloud formation how they sometimes combine together and at others antagonize and destroy each other signal service maximum temperature friday last Saturday I 1 mention this to show that binet ninety degrees of temperature ended wit with Z us for this year on wednesday august tonight a slight disturbance tur bance occurs but here in utah we may only for two or three days to corae come feel its effects by another drop in temperature which occurs about midnight but commencing about friday the ath big wintry storms become general ac accompanied compan ed at first by thunder and lightning low temperature will prevail the early part of next week the minimum temperature with us will be from 27 to 30 THOMAS WEBB SALT LAKE CITY sept 3 1889 |
