| Show OBITUARY NOTES WM WH P PARSONS ARSONS OWENS At Willard City Box Elder county Utah Sept 25 1894 of typhoid fever William Parsons Owens Deceased was the son of Owen Owens and Jane Par Par- Parsons Parsons Parsons sons born at 16 1864 hence he was nearly thirty years of age He has resided at Willard nearly all his bis life lilea a few tew years recently having been spent at Deweyville where he labored as section foreman on n the U TJ P railway Unas Unas- Unassuming Unassuming Unassuming suming strictly honorable a loving son husband and father lather and a true Latter Latter- Latter day day Saint he was greatly respected and his apparently a untimely departure is deeply mourned by many friends In his sickness he be and his wife and parents clung tenaciously to life and earnestly sought the blessings of the Lord through throng faith and aud the prayers of those holding ding the holy Priesthood but He who all well ruled a k bereaved wife and three bree small children are r left to mourn the absence absence- of their natural pro pro- protector protector protector JAMES J J 1 CHANDLER MARY ANN AMT A N ALPIN WOOLLEY Mary Ann Alpin death was recorded in Monday evenings evening's NEws was wife of ot the late Edwin D Woolley Bishop of the Thirteenth ward Salt Lake City She was born at Cam Gloucester Gloucester- shire England March 8 1824 1821 She was the daughter of Henry Alpin and Sarah White While The entire family faintly embraced the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the early days of the Church She was baptized by Elder David Webb She was the oldest of seven children five girls and two boys Three of her sisters are still living Soon after becoming a member of 01 the Church the spirit of ga gathering hering to Zion rested upon her and in company with her aunt Eliza her fathers father's sister left her native country in a sailing vessel for America They were three months on the oce ocean n landing at New Orleans They proceeded up UJ the Mississippi river to St Louis Soon after fter reaching there her aunt died of tile the cholera which was raging at the time She was thus left lett alone to make headway towards the place placa ot of her cherished des des- destination destination dea viz Utah and being beinA anxious to reach there as soon as possible she do- do de the blessing of the Lord and her own industry to raise means suf sul- sufficient sufficient to complete her journey the fol- fol following following fol following lowing year Being expert with the needle she earned considerable by sew sew- sewing sewing sewing ing and during her stay in St Louis she became acquainted with Apostle John Taylor Elder Jedediah M Grant GranS and Bishop Edward Hunter In the spring of 1850 she resolved to continue her journey to Utah and started from St Louis by boat up the Missouri river to Council Bluffs While traveling she was introduced to Edwin D Woolley by Elder Gibson who was looking tor for someone some someone someone one to take charge of his little son E G I Woolley Edwin D had just returned from Pennsylvania with his son whose i mother bad died soon after Edwin D had emigrated to Utah She agreed to l take charge of his bi boy and also to cook l for the company across the plains over which Edwin D Woolley had charge She arrived arri ved in Salt Lake City in October 1 1850 and the following month was mar mar- married married married ried to the latter from which union she was blessed with eleven children six boys and five girls seven of whom are arenow arenow arenow now living She bad had twenty seven twenty grandchildren twenty-four twenty of 01 whom are living Arriving in this city in that early day i many were the hardships and trials s she e had to pass through Her first child as asborn asborn born in a wagon box the cover of which formed her only sheler After the death of her husbands husband's first wife she was required to take charge of her family that still remained unmarried as well as all her own which charge she faithfully per per- formed performed She has li lived ed in the Thirteenth ward between forty and fifty years yeara be- be beloved beloved be beloved loved by her family and universally respected by a host ot of friends She has died as she lived a Latter-day Latter Saint Saint and has gone home to receive her reward Peace to her remains i |
