elder stake officers mrs rogers visited the quarterly conference held bold in brigham city on june alth and which proved to be one of special interest as aa was also the entertainment given by the little ones in the pheope ope a house the same great credit is due the president vie reese beese and her counselors delors phena matson and amelia for untiring energy and perseverance severance cb in their labors among the Ahll dren after attending the conference of the Y L M 1 I A of the same place on june sister rogers and myself visited the little town or mi millard 1 l ard attending a special especial meeting of the association and the regular meeting of the primary the attendance at both meetings showed decided interest t the singing was cheerful and refresh ing miss minnie owens has displayed valuable talent in composing music hill of cheerful harmony suited to the capacity of children and appropriate to our primary hymns leading willard we traveled into cache stake for the purpose of attends dg a series of eight conferences designed by sister jane E sitters mattie blair hansen and emma pike counselors tor for the purpose of meeting the greatest number dumber of children positive pos itile as it is not always convenient for the little ones to travel long distances to attend one oae general stake conference their method was to group from two to torte towns holding ingafu a conference nie rence every june in each town alternately on monday the the logan eon con ference conven convened td in the stake tabernacle nacle comprising logan providence and greenville the attendance was very large and the presence and instructions of the stake presidency orson smith isaac smith and 81 simson E molin wits was very encouraging to the persistent tont workers in this field of labor the children maintained most excellent order throughout the day and the exercises were well bosen and ably rendered particularly those of a musical nature ton teu children bad walked a also the violin solos toy by two little girls also a violin duet by a boy and girl the parents turned out in large numbers number which greatly encourages the children and officers in their good work tuesday june 20 the conference cor convened in hyrum jointly Mill milleville millville ville and college wards warde the presence of measles in the town kept mary many at home the attendance was good and interest and good order prevailed throughout the day one of the moat attractive features was a band of little boys with harmonicas harmon harmo ioas nicas anu drum playing with commendable skill also a boys boya ulee glee club of six members who pang bang very nicely on wednesday the 21 we visited paradises paradise where a conference was held tor for the ibe children of that place and of aron there the lively sinking singing was a credit to the very young you ng leaders and members taking part and all ail the exercises were well rendered there too they had bad a little harmonica band the day and lack of all confusion in seating the great body of children wan wals largely due to the watchful care aud and assistance of the ward deac deacons ns whose prompt attendance ce on such occasions Is ie highly appreciated we wish the services of 0 t a deacon were deemed a necessity by the presiding authorities of each place and were always available at mendon on the there was another scene of rejoicing the people from bourough rough joining in 10 the exercises which were all praiseworthy near the close of the meeting the the large assen assembly ably was cheered by strains of lively music from the mention mendon silver band baad composed of young men and one young lady who deserves credit for gracing this pool position tion all had bad been once members meo ibers of the leader brother robert sweeten stated that at the organization of the band the boys voted to abstain from all intoxicating d ricks dricks we bad a happy send off PP to smithfield where the children of hyde park and benson met on the there grand preparations bad been made nd the tabernacle had bad been transformed trant formed into a bower of beauty with flowers and fes festoons in front of the pulpit hung a long drapery ol of red on which were artistically arranged with flowers of the sago city the word welcome the stands were all adorned with beautiful flowers and each officer was sure we felt highly honored too much cannot be said in praise 0 the exercises especially the singing under the direction of two young ladies who waved the baton on sunday we rested in richmond and on monday the held conference there with lewiston and Co veville there too the stands were tastefully adorned with flowers plants and festoons fes the house was crowded the parents parent turning out on en masse masse to enjoy the exercises and encourage the little ones every feature of the program was well rendered the most moat enlivening one was the boys harmonica band of thirteen members member led by two boys boya who were deprived of their sight eight one year ago none done but the leaders could play these little instruments st and the proficiency attained was truly wonderful on tuesday the we met with the good people of newton and clarkston when all a lively vely interest was maul man tested twelve or feurt fourteen een wagon loads of parents aud and children driving from clarkston the class exercises were exceptionally good all ali were prompt and spoke to in clear distinct tones the leader of the choir and most of the members were present to help the little folks with leir singing sister rogers borers took the early train for home and the people of this the lost last conference were much disappointed at not meeting her at every place she ahe was extended the most thoroughly by repeating them in concert or RB as claw class exercises or recitations than to have many songs and not bearn earn them well we alto aleo encouraged the boys to slog more by forming glee clurs which would create confidence and ability to bing alone we advised both boys and girls girla to persevere in musical education in instrumental music of all kinds as aa well as aa in vocal A more efficient and energetic corps of officers would be hard to find than at present aoto acts in these associations association they appreciate and acknowledge the great assistance given them by the te k stake and branch authorities as the hearty operation cooperation co of the parents B by y the system of conjoint meetings we were enabled to meet with of 2000 children among them over boys besides a host of young ladies who are rendering most valuable service in training th it little folks run hun d reels deeds of parents were also assembled to meet with them but who could not have journeyed joun
