Show IMPORTANT REDUCTION the tolls of the W U telegraph co to be cut an order has baa been issued from the headquarters of the western union telegraph co reducing tolls to all points reached by its wires wire the me extent of the reduction being an average of about 25 per cent the order is as follow omaha neb nov 19 it has been decided to still further modify our square and state rates by reductions which are to be put pat in force on and after december 1st ast 1887 it will be remembered that on november alst is 60 and the maximum rate between western union offices in the states east of the mississippi river 75 and 5 is to be the maximum between western union offices in the united states east of the rocky mountains or more definitely between states east of and including montana na utah and ne new x mexico ana T texas xa ja 75 and 5 6 is also to te be the maximum within the section containing centa ining wyoming colorado new mexico idaho utah arizona nevada california oregon and washington a territory 60 and 4 ts to io be the maximum within the section containing nevada california oregon and washington Washing toa territory and 4 within the section containing arizona nevada and california 60 and 4 within the section containing montana idaho washington territory and oregon 60 and 4 within the section cont containing northern michigan wisconsin illinois minnesota iowa missouri dakota nebraska and kansas kanbas au and 4 within the section containing taint ng missouri arkansas louisiana kensas indian territory and texas 60 and 4 with in the section containing new york new jersey pennsylvania delaware maryland Maryl aad ditrick Ditri cb ol of columbia virginia west virginia ohio Ke kentucky tucky michigan indian wisconsin and illinois also duluth st paul lis its burlington davenport S louis an I 1 nattier er mississippi towns chien are usually included there may inay be in this last section a few exceptions viz to northern michigan f from roin new york new jersek pennsylvania maryland delaware district of columbia virginis virginia and west virginia 60 and 4 A maximum of 50 and aad 3 within the section containing virginia north carolina south carolina georgia florida Al alabama ausma mississippi kentucky and tennessee washington D C ne new v orleans and Cin cincinnati cincinnat cinna ti will vill be included in this section the rate between san francisco and salt lake city is to be 80 60 and 4 st paul and minneapolis to helena is to be 60 and 4 omaha Oma baand and kansas city to salt lake city 60 80 and 4 other capages caa can ages siges and possibly some modification of these will also be made but they have not yet been determined ter mined the tariff book scale for night messages will have to be abandoned with the adoption adopt loa of these new state elate rates the reduction of the day rates being all that the business will bear where the present rate is one dollar for day aay and seventy five cents for the new day rate is to be seventy seventy five cents the night rate will wil be the same as the day rate in other cas cases esthe the seventy five cent rate becomes sixty it has been decided oled to bold the fifty cent night rate and not let it fall to forty as it wedlow it if the tariff book scale were adhered to in like manner where the present rates of sixty are reduced to fifty the existing night rate of forty will be retained J J supt bupt the effect of this order will be to reduce the rate from utah and surrounding territories to all points in the union where the company has offices to 75 cents and from salt lake cit city v to san Francisco Omaha and kansas city a special rate of 60 cents is made by these reductions the cost of transferring trans feiring money through the western union money order system will be lessened materially the newspapers will also share in the benefits of the lower tariffs as the rates charged them on 8 special dispatches is gauged by the tariff on commercial messages respectfully H M SCOTT manager |
