State, were married Feb. 23, 1929 in Clearfield, with their vows later being solomnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Mr. Harris was born in -- Clearfield, a son of Orson Enoch and Katie Layton has resided in Clearfield since 1926. She worked for Stimp-son- s, Murphy. She Harris. He spent his youth farming with his father. He was also employed by the American Meat Packing Co. and Swifts. He became a state meat inspector in 1953 and retired American Grants and ZCMI. He is a high priest and home teacher in the LDS Church. Mrs. Harris, the former was-joridetta Hedley-Murph- y, n Food, They have one son and four daughters: Mrs. Floyd (Elaine) Hegwood, Columbus, Miss; Mrs. Richard (Ida Mae) Kittrell in 1970. and' Mrs. Arthur (Shirley) Thompson, both of Layton; Jed -- in Centerville, a laughter of Martin D. W. ind Margaret Jane Hadley College. Mr. Price is a graduate of Clearfield High School. vows in I WEST POINT The former Miss Ann Read and Thayhe Max Hill were married on Saturday at the West Point LDS Ward Cultural Hall. Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Ray A. Read of 1901 W. 75 S. The bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Max C. Hill of 1992 N. 300 W., Sunset. Don Budge Bishop presided over the ceremony. A reception following honored the couple. Attending were Miss Cindy Read as maid of honor; with the Misses Robin Murray - Lane in Clearfield. A reception will be held at the Edgewood in Ogden following the ceremony. The bride elect was graduated from Roy High School and LDS Seminary. Sign language class offered A class in basic sign language, designed to enable hearing persons to com- - municate with deaf or persons, hearing-impaire- d be offered by the Division of Continuing will Education of Weber State College. The class will be held Thursday, June 7 through August 9, from 7 to 9 p.m., in the Continuing Education Center, Room 102. Tuition is $37, plus $10 for credit in Communications 292. The course will introduce the basic structures of sign language necessary to enable hearing persons to communicate with their deaf associates. Jay Bachman, WSC Continuing ' Education coordinator, said the course provides an opportunity for hearing to persons un- derstand enough of the sign language to communicate with deaf persons, but would not bring the novice to the expert level. Instructor will be Norman L. Roberts, a rehabilitation counselor for the Utah Division of Rehabilitation. McGarvey gave the bride away in marriage. is given to Special thank-yo- u Sunset Pageant workers and sponsors of the event When the 6th annual Miss Sunset Scholarship Pageant draws to a close on June 15 somewhere between 10 p.m. and midnight there will have been a lot of donated time given to the pageant by some very dedicated people. Kenneth Rock chairman of the pageant conceived the idea six years ago and got Nada Nicholas the director of the pageant to help with the idea. She has been director of the pageant for six years. It became a family project with all of the Nicholas children involved in various aspect of the pageant. Mrs. Macfarlane will host a luncheon for the 30 Little Miss Sunset Contestants and their mothers on June 9. This la the first time that a luncheon has beat held for the Little ladies. Miss Sheryl Moore who the-you- was Miss Sunset 1977 became an attendant to Miss Davis Co. When the pageant first started there were smaller scholarships given, the total scholarship for this year is 1700.00 HOWARD is wed to Thomas Benton Lovewell. Couple wed on Friday - SUNSET The White House in South Ogden was the setting on Friday for the wedding of the former Miss Jacqueline Lee Howard and Thomas Benton Lovewell. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Howard of 388 W. 2575 N. are parents of the bride. Mr. Lovewell of 2242 W. 5300 S. in Roy, is a son of Oliver E. Lovewell of Deepwater, Mo., and the late Mrs. Lovewell. Officiating Bishop James rites D. was Bridges. A reception was held at the White House. VENETIAN LACE brides gown was fashioned of crystalline over bridal taffeta.
