Show I Sunset Junior elects new officers Sunset Junior High School announces the election of new student body officers for the 1978-7- 9 year. Bruce Reid is the new student body president, Bruce, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul H. Reid, enjoys all sports but lists among his favorites baseball, skiing and hunting. Shawna Dodson is the new t. student body Shawna is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daryl Hodson. Her interests range from basketball to snow and water skiing. Sunsets new student body secretary is Cheryl Cash, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Owen Cash. Carol is known for her quiet personality but she still enjoys clamorous . sports like football and softball. Ninth grade president Alan Kendrick plays on Sunsets winning football team. This years' ninth grade vice Dresident is Teresa Monroe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Neldon Monroe. Teresa is an avid tennis player. Lori Hutchinson is the new ninth grade secretary and is also the captain of the girls volleyball team. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Joe Jenson. The president of the eighth grade is Jose Montano, trumpet player sports and son of Mr. and Mrs. Greg Montano. Eighth grade is Dean vice-preside- nt Taylor trumpet. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. who also plays Don Taylor. Eighth grade secretary is Kelly Rhoe, whose parents are Mr. and .Mrs. Ralph Rhoe. Anthony serving Montano is as this years seventh grade president. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Greg Montano. Seventh grade vice president is Nola Allen. She is a stamp collector, baton twirler and soccer player. Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Allen. Shelva McCrary is the seventh grade secretary. Shelvas interests are swimming and baby-sittin- Sampson graduates Airman Patrick 0. Sampson, son of retired Air Force Technical Sergeant and Mrs. Herbert B. Sampson of 77 East 700 South. Clearfield, has graduated at Chanute AFB, OI., from the U.S. Air Force technical training course for jet engine mechanics. Airman Sampson, now trained to inspect and repair turbojet and gas turbine engines, is being assigned to Luke AFB, Ariz., for duty with a unit of the Tactical Air Command. Completion of the course earned the individual credits towards an associate in applied science degree the Community through College of the Air Force. The airman is a 1977 graduate of Clearfield High School and attended Weber State College. His wife, Karyn, is the daughter of Howard Fitzgerld of 367 North 850 South, Layton, Utah. The Harold Giles were among two family members who gathered on Saturday afternoon in an open house for the birthdays of Mrs. Giles mother, Amy P. Randall and Mrs. Randalls twin sister Bertha P. Anderson, who were 88 years old. The twins were born Nov. 1 in Richville to Nels and Matilda Peterson. Mrs. Randalls husband Melvin Howard Randall who she married in 1909 died in 1945. She has lived in Milton since she was one year old. She is active member of the LDS Church serving in all of the church organizations. She had nine children, five still living; Mrs. Arthur (Norine) Giles and Homer Randall both of Milton, Mrs. Esther Stephens and Richard Randall of Morgan and Eva Giles of Sunset, a stepdaughter Mrs. Ella Nielsen of Idaho Falls, Ida. 16 grandchildren, 30 and six Mrs. Anderson married Fred Anderson in 1910 in Ogden. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died in 1957. She also has been active in five different wards in the Oakland area and in the Oakland Temple where served as a receptionist and organist for over years. She had two children, one still living Mrs. Emma Ballard of Salt Lake City. Mrs. Anderson has lived in Salt Lake for the past two years. She has 4 grandchildren, 19 The open house was held in the Milton LDS First Ward Cultural Hall. 20 n. Kaye and Joyce Browning agd two other couples have returned after a three week tour of the British Isles, Scotland, Wales Ireland except the northern part. They went to all the historic spots. Joyce said the old Roman ruins which abound there were most interesting to her. They flew over and back, rented a bus for the sightseeing. Ray and Debra Riding have a baby girl born on Nov. their first child. 2. It is Osmer and Verda Knight went to Reno last week to attend funeral services for Mr. Knights brother, Walter Glenn Knight who died on Oct. 27 following a heart attack. Mr. Knight was born in Plain City, and had formerly lived in Ogden. He worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad, retiring in 1966 in Ogden. Among survivors is a daughter Mrs. William (Doris) Valline of Reno, Mr. Knight of Sunset and a sister Mrs. Verd (Mabel) Brikerhoff of Los Angeles. Funeral and burial were in Reno. Terry and Michelle Valdezs new daughter arrived on Nov. 1. i i , it .i i , , , i ( John and Nada Nicholas have returned from Farmington, N.M. where they visited with the family of a sister of Mrs Nicholas, Mrs. Arda Molen. Sunset Camp of DUP met on Thursday evening at the home Beth Ward for the November camp meeting with Sylvia Smith and Verl Neilsen conducting. Melba Smith reviewed a history of a great-uncl- e Phillip Andrew Paskett an early church convert. Present were Beth Ward, Verl Nielsen, Melba Smith, Verlene Eddington, Sylvia Smith, Verda Knight, Margaret Willia, lone Ferrin, Mildred Porter, June Schaelling, Iona Kelly, Wanda Nielsen, Elda Sparks and Roxey Bronson. The lesson Old Samplers was given by June Schaelling. of d, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Kimber, Berniece and Melinda Hansen, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Kimber of Roy were among relatives and friends who attended the wedding on Friday of Jerry Lynn Peterson and Allan Maples in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Jerry Lynn is the daughter of Elwood and Myma Peterson, the family now living in Hunter were former Sunset residents. Jerry Lynn is the grandaughter of the Kimbers. A reception was held that evening in the Hunter Stake Center for the newlyweds. Ed and Ann Rogers were among friends attending the wedding reception in Hunter on Friday evening for Jerry Lynn Peterson and Allan Maples. The Rogers were neighbors of the Petersons when they lived in Sunset. Mrs. Bud Jorgensen visited here last week with a daughter her family the Charles Thompsons. Mrs. Jorgensen was recuperating from surgery of the week before. of Ray and Deon Anderson and their family went to Rexburg last week to visit with daughter Joyce who is attending Ricks College . J oyce is on the volleyball team at the school so they enjoyed a game in which she played. Lisa Keller is back in regular school classes . She has been receiving her schooling at home, and had surgery several months ago, has been recuperating since. Mrs. Lori McKissick and daughter Tara are here staying with Loris parents, Kenneth Rock. Lori and her husband have been stationed in Tacoma, Washington with the army. He has been sent to Germany for an indefinate time so their plans for the future depends on how long he stays in Ger- many. Betty Koster and Lee Johnson will be honored witli an open 15 at the home of Randell and Becky Zaugg, 770 North Barlow, Clearf ield. Betty and Lee will be married prior to the open house at the home of Bettys daughter and her husband, Becky and Randell. The open house will be from 7 until 9 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited.
