Memorial Service Conducted For Gordon Petersen Memorial services for Gordon Edwin Petersen, .21, Logan Pvt. who was killed Jan. 30, 1946, at Japan, while serving with division there, the Fifth Marine were conducted yesterday (Thurs day) in the Logan city cemetery G. He was born Nov. 25, 1925, in Logan, the son of William Harlo He and Oretta Fister Petersen. attended Logan city schools, graduated from Logan high school 1943. In February, 1944, he in joined the U. S. Marine Corps, being sent to Pendleton, Calif., for his preliminary, training5. Following this training, he was to the Hawaiian transferred islands, where he was assigned to the Fifth Marine division, later taking part in the battle of Iwo Jima. He then was assigned occupation duty in Japan. Surviving are his father, of Salt Lake City, and two brothers, William, Sacramento, Calif., and Reed G. Peterson, Logan. Military services' were accorded by the American Legion Post No. (Sasbo, 7 of 24, 1948. YULE BAZAAR HELD BY RELIEF SOCIETY Lewiston The Third ward ReSociety held its bazaar and Christmas program last Thurs -ady night in the ward recreational hall with president Eva Wad-douin charge of the program. At the bazaar there was displayed fancy and aprons, childrens clothing and a nice - lief ph all-ov- er variety of Christmas gifts. A. president, Boyd Kar-re- n spent an hour singing Christmas carols about town. They re turned to the M. I. A. recreational room and enjoyed a delicious chili luncheon. An operetta, A visit From Santa Claus written by Mrs. Mary Taggart, was presented with Claudia Van Orden and George A Stevens as children, Toys that came to life were, Stanley Pit. ? cher, Richard Johnson, Nolan aggart, Bonnie Sue Simmonds, Julia Ann Simmonds, Patsy and Lewis. Christmas carols Vicky were sung by the Primary children. ' At the close of the program the children enjoyed dancing and a visit from Santa Claus who presented them with candy and nuts. Committees in charge were as follows: Program, chairman Bel-v- a Stevens and Zola Allen; deRuth Johnson, Delta coration, Lewis, Jean Johnson, Bernice Buxton, Santa Donna Daley; Claus, Letti Hendricks, Ruey Hyde, Lucille Van Orden, Venna Van Orden and Lola Coley; music, iva Pticher and Carol Hendricks; andy and nuts, Millie Rawlins, hyliss Smith, Ethel Williams and diva Drury.
