In a letter from Clem Schramm, director of the show, to Fred W. Sorenson, instructor of the F.F.A. unit at South Cache, the feist place rating was verified. Prise money won by the chapter also was received, along with individual awards for performance in the stock show. Most prized honor which any South Cache participant captured1 was carried home by Calvin Clark 17, of Wellsville. In swine judging he took a first in fitting and showmanship. Fifty per cent was 'counted; upon his ability to show the animal, 25 per cent on the animals conformation, and 25 per cent upon grooming. Clark entered six swine in the contest; two were rated prime, two choice and two good. According to Mr. Sorenson, competition was keen for only 12 hogs in the entire shew were giyen the prime rating. Other club members who took part in the exhibition were Ray Wilhelm of North Logan and Sharell Summers, Paradise. Wilhelm had five hogs rated good, and Summers exhibited one prime and three choice hogs. An annual event, the Salt Lake show determines its final winner upon a point basis, and upon this standard the South Cache contingent won its laurels. Following the judging, all the animals were sold to buyers for substantial amounts over the customary price levels. The most resent honor which came to the Future Farmers of South Cache Is just one of many during the past school year. As a reward for the time and effort spent by the unit and its instructors, the National F.F.A. Foundation has awarded the chapter a pure-bre- d boar and 15 Duroc gilts and sows. While enrollment in the organization totaled only 44 last year, increased activity and interest has sent the,' figure soaring to 136 tnis year.
