Poor copy c Sun Times, March 19, 1980. 10 Page Sportstaculan Tense competition ahead for Four members of the are busy preparing themselves for three special competitions which come their way only every other year the USA team trials Every two years these special competitions are held to select the top three tumblers and trampolimsts to represent the U.S.jin all international competitions The first of these trials will be held jin Bozeman. MT, on April 26 and 27, the second m Quincy, 111., on May 24 ahd and the last m Las Vegas, NV, on the first or second weekend in July. Stacy Hansen, Teddie Endow and Julie Beaty have repeatedly placed in the top 10 at national and world competitions in tumbling while Kay Davis has received the same honors in trampoline competition. Julie has, in fact, already represented the U.S. on a platform team in Bulgaria where she placed 5th after finals. The are busy raising the necessary funds to send these and competitors possibly a couple of others to the trials along with their coach, Jim Aamodt. Team manager Terry Ellis will also be attending as she has been selected by the USAF Board of Directors to be a judge for the team selections The United States Acrogymnastics Federation (USAF)'of the AAU has the international sanction to host these important meets will also be hosting the USAF within the United Slates The regional meet at Murray High School on April 18 and 19 where 10 states Will be sending their competitiors to qualify for the important USAF Nationals. The Montana meet directors have also requested information on the team to be used for advertisement and fund raising purposes to show the local populace the caliber of competitors coming to the meet. Films and articles are being prepared for this purpose.
