Roy football fans are used to winning football teams and Jacklin is doing everything pre-seas- ' possible to keep the tradition alive. There may be no super-star- s as such when the Royals take the field this year, but you can bet Jacklin will have every varsity member thinking they can become superstars. Forty seniors help make up a big portion of the Royal roster. Many of these seniors had some playing experience last season, but fulltime duty will be a new thing for most. Burt Rich seems to have the inside edge on the quarterback position. Gary Anderson, junior,' and two sophomores, Wade Jacklin and Mike Risky are also quarterbacks. Wade Jacklin is Ernie's son. Fullbacks include Artie Aragon, Brent Winward, and Billy Vensta. Tailback candidates are Chris Jensen, Willard Ken Huddleston, Blaze Bishop and Ron Jones. Slotbacks include Mitch Brown, Mike Allison Kenny Tulane, and Troy Thompson, Jacklins choices for split-end- s include Brad McCall, Cort Cragun, Warren Bird, Murdock, Brown,, and Jim Bertagnolli. John Nelson and Darren Storey will be the teams centers. Offensive guards and tackle; include Greg Martin, Bob Workman, Kelly Skidmore, Chris Chun, John Cummings, and Shane Dehart. Team captains for the Royals include Steve Richards, Troy Bullard, Jim Bertagnolli and Kelly Skidmore. Those coaches that will assist Jacklin will be Fred Thompson, Ralph Carter, Dan Sheffer, and Riley Summers. Tight ends for Roy will be Mark Robyler, Ralph Anderson, John .Nigone and Mike Jachim. Defensively the Royals have Tim Stulce, Shane Dehart, Kelly Skidmore, and Bob Workman all vying for tackle spots. Robyler, Nigone, and Anderson will fight for end positions. Middle linebackers will include Bullard, Chun, Toby Phillips, and Brent Winward. . Halfbacks include Doug Johnson, Kevin Cudmore, and Cragun. Outside linebackers that will see' action include Aragon, Stanger, Gary Pontus, and Paul Duke. Safeties will be Steve Richards, Murdock, Brown, and Warren Bird. Steve Shaw, who saw varsity action a year ago at various times, returns as the Warriors omS Defensively the Warriors are looking for Scott Oborn, Brent Rackham, Bob Keele, and Scott Burton to fill tackle slots. Gary Cobbs, Miller and Kennington Wheelwright, Mark Eggeton, Mike Riske, Gary Ashley, Tom Wantabe, and Ron Higham. mspirfse will play defensive end positions. The linebacking group is headed by Malan, Viera, Eastman, Clint Cooper, and Todd Messerly. Lewis will be looking for Jeff Reid, Drew Skeen, Chris Green, Kip Johnson, Vern Stacey, Andrews, and Shaw to fill his defensive backfield. Vern Stacey, second choice. wasnt the only one who came down from Tremonton, he also brought his son Steve. Steve adds much strength to the running backs corps by filling in as a halfback. Ralph Anderson and Kip Johnson are two more seniors that will see plenty of action at the halfback slot.
