cohabitation was called before commissioner mckay today a a the defendants attorney mr moyle was not present having understood from the prosecution that the case would be again postponed notwithstanding that the defendant did not wish to go on till his counsel arrived vain efforts to find Mr Moyle the commissioner ordered that the case be proceeded with and the witnesses were subjected to a rigid examination by district attorney peters mrs sarah R stanley was the first witness she testified that she was married to the defendant defendi Lut 14 years ago 0 last april in this cit city she was X awl his wife lived at bountiful davis davia county she was the legal wife the commissioner nere dere explained that she was not obliged to testify further in the case and as she stated she was unwilling to do so she was excused mrs alice hardman testified I 1 live in the fourth ward of this city arm am acquainted with the defendant he is my son in law he was married to my daughter thirteen or fourteen years ago on the ath of april he lives in davis county I 1 with my daughter sarah hl his wife ac has lived with her during the past two years I 1 do not know harriet stanley I 1 have a daughter named harriet she is twenty three years of age she is not married and never has been that I 1 know of she is not reputed pu t ed to be the defendants plural wife w if e never heard that she was married to him she has lived at cache county during a portion of the last three years I 1 do not know where she is living now she has lived at mendon off and on about one halt the time she left my home when she was eleven years of age and went to live with lier her slater sister mrs sarab staw stanley evs ahe e sever never told me who she lived ia with at mendon nor what stanley Is the father of the child I 1 do not k know now where harriet is now have mot heard from her during the past four months do not know whether or not sue she has had dad a second child mrs harriet H hardman testified harriet hardman ismy is my niece mrs alice hardman is my sister in law I 1 have been acquainted with mr stanley a number of years he formerly lived cited near where 1 do in
