ASHBY Sun Advocate publisher And even though this was the second stop of what will become many over the next 12 months, There are times when I think I dont have another minute to share. When I have been away from my family way too long. When I have shared my limited talents to the point that I am worn down and tired. When I have opened my home up to visitors, young and old alike, to the point when I am not sure who is living with me and who is not. Im glad that these moments are few and pass quickly. But I realize that many of us have busy and hectic schedules that dont allow us to do many of the youth were definitely impressed with the warm the things we would like. And if you were one of the hundreds of residents asked to host visiting youth with the Up With People group, the people to find the time and space to be a host came family away feeling good and giving praise to the individuals involved in the program. It was fun talking with some of the host families on the morning of the fifth day when the hosting would come to an end and memories would have to take over. It was fun watching the groups gather for pho.-to- s. There were several people walking around with bouquets of flowers given to them out of appreciation for the visit. There were plenty of hugs and kisses being and contagious Carbon County welcome. Many of the youth were oblivious to the culture of the West as well as to the sights and sounds that make us rural and envied. Some of the programs participants saw their first flaming marshmallow roasted over an outdoor fire. Others could not believe the beautiful sunsets that kept them spellbound one evening and remained hopeful that it would return on the morrow. There were many comments about how different and spectacular our landscapes and the different colors of our earth are and the wonderful legends of the past preserved in fossils and Indian rock art. Mountains and canyons will stay in the youths minds for a long time. But the conversations always came back to the people. gracious they were. How willing they were to spend time with a bunch of visiting kids never before seen in this area. The youth talked about how hard it was to say goodbye and how special the visit to the Carbon County area was. We do take a lot of things for granted. How There are sunsets that are only noticed, rather than absorbed. We don't comment on the different colors of dirt anymore. Our canyons are our backyards and many visits have removed some of the initial awe and splendor that make the mountains great. And sometimes we forget just how accommodating we really are. How much we are willing to share one with another as well as visitors to the local area.
